Thanks for the info Jim, I would have like to have checked it out at Big Bear.
Well, I did order the double suction mount and installed it. My first impression was the it was OK, but not as solid as I anticipated. There was defintely vibration with just street driving and I can only anticipate that it would have been worse off road. After driving around and watching, it appeared that most of the movement was coming from the plastic plate that attaches or bridges the two suction cups. In addition, because of the width of the platic piece it places all of the components about 1/2" further out, which introduces more leverage.
I unbolted one of the suction cups and mounted my GPS and CB and low and behold it is more solid than the double!!! I am very happy with just the single ram mount and am amazed at the suction power of just the single unit. I have had very good luck with all Ram Mount products in the past, but the bridging plate was a dissapointment. I think the idea was correct, but the part being made of plastic was it's downfall. Hope this helps some others out in the future.
