Which Springs for my M416?

I have not been able to come up with much in my short search for replacement springs for my M416. The rear C hanger will also be swapped for a standard greasable shackle. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know if spring manufacturers do this type of leaf spring in the US, but if they do, I'd go for a 4x4 rebound spring, no need for shocks with these type, they also stop the bouncey bouncey type ride.

I believe the spring set up is the same as the early jeep CJ5. Surplus city Oroville, Ca may have springs.

its actually the front leaf spring from a CJ3. the early CJ5 may be identical but I know a CJ3 spring fits. I used a 1.5" lift spring for a CJ3 from Rancho. I was able to order just the springs from Bob Supplee. if you need the actual part number I can look it up later tonight. the shocks are also from the front of a CJ3

If I did 1.5" lift springs and kept it sprung under I wonder if my 295's would fit then, perhaps those couple with a shackle might make the difference and I can run the axle sprung under.... thoughts?

Are the CJ springs rated for a heavier weight? I was thinking that with all the weight I added to my M-416, I would need to upgrade my springs. I bought the NOS springs from Saturn Surplus as well.

Someone else posted this not long ago. I measured my front ECJ5 springs and they should fit fine. WWW.jeeperzcreeperz.com had them individually for about $80 plus shipping. They also are military wrapped.

There's a 2.5" lift springs available ;)

From my build thread:
Ok got the correct springs in today:
Front Leaf Spring for 10-Layer for Jeep
Products Model: 18201.02
Manufacturer: Omix-Ada
Fits Vehicle: 1941-53 Jeep MB Jeep CJ

These are basically direct replacements. I have 32's on mine with no trimming what so ever.

Just checking to see what the OP wound up doing here. I had done the SOA and was not happy with it. So now I've gone back to spring under and need about 1" more of lift.

It looks like Performance Accessories may have a set of shackles that will replace the "C" shackle and provide lift. It also looks like Rancho or Skyjacker may have leaf springs that could provide lift. I wonder if anyone has experimented with any of these products on their M416.

I went with a set of superlift springs for a cj3 (think that's right) 2.5" lift springs to be exact and I can run my 295's on a 16x8 (using a wider aftermarket axle) sprung under. I'll get some pictures when I get back in town.
