three images from WRT

the page with directions does not include how to upload from my desktop of my mac. A few months ago it worked perfectly, but now a data base error page keeps popping up, frustrating...... It seems to be overloading and shutting down.

Hope this works,

Mailing them to myself, and dropping on my desktop should work.. Here are 2 views of the Shafer Trail, and the beginning of the WRT. Our 1st campsite was at Airport D. Unfortunately my better half is afraid of heights. It took a lot of coaching, but she made it down, quite relieved, she had no idea what lay ahead. (Murphy's Hogback, Hardscrabble etc,,)

Airport d

We were treated to a light show at sunset at Airport D, photo images just do not do it justice. Got up the next day, backtracked to Lathrop canyon, then headed for Murphy camp

We were both completely fascinated with the landscape, all told we have uploaded over 650 images, and about 2 hours of video footage.

Potato Bottom

Our last night was spent at Potato Bottom camp, and after a downpour we were once again treated to a spectacular light show,,, the next day over the top of Hardscrabble, and to a much needed hotel, with hot showers. All in all we spent 16 days in the Moab Region, Arches, Needles, and WRT, Horseshoe Canyon was next, a nice long hike to witness 5,000 year old petroglyphs . Having spent nearly 2 1/2 weeks exploring the region, we only scratched the surface. We will be going back to the 4 corners region in 2012, More time to be spent exploring the Needles District, and into the Maze for a few nights! We just cannot seem to get enough, as we are drawn to this place, as steel is to a magnate!!

Looks like a great trip, thanks for posting the photos! I've wanted to get on the White Rim for some time but every time I go to Moab I get sidetracked into some other adventure.

One question, did you use or need 4wd? I have a 2wd sportsmobile with all weather tires that would be so much nicer to take than my 4wd taco. The roads in the photos look doable with 2wd if you're careful.

Thanks!

Most of the trail would be doable in 2wd, but several sections, Murphy's Hogback, Hardscrabble, (tight swithbacks, deep sand, hellish inclines/declines) and sections of Lathrop Canyon, (off camber ledges), would be risky at best. We made our reservations in July of 09 for May of 10, ahhh I hate to sound stupid,,, but what is a "sportsmobile"?

Thanks for the info, maybe the Taco would be best taken! A Sportsmobile is basically a converted van which uses a variety of chassis of which mine is an E350 EB. check out http://www.sportsmobile.com/ if you get bored.
