I meant to post this earlier. This was last Sunday when the bracket broke and I ran off the road.
My friend who is a diesel mechanic says he sees this all the time. The bolt was loose, and that was putting all the pressure on the welded tube. Sure enough, a nice little bump on the highway and the tube gave way. Really nobody's fault but mine!
Oh well, it's together, all I need is an alignment!
