who has installed a Webasto?

The thing you do NOT want to do is affect the engine cooling system in any way.
In the FG84/FG140 there are two circuits that run in parallel with the engine's cooling system; the cab heater circuit and the EGR circuit.
I did a series connection to the Webasto from the cab heater circuit. Originally the connection to the Webasto was done as a parallel connection, but I did not get enough flow, hence the change.
In a worst case scenario, where there is a problem with the Webasto circuit, all that should happen is that my cab heater will not work.

So, I did not actually T into the cab heater circuit, I effectively cut one of the cab heater hoses and ran to the Webasto from one end and had the return go to the other end of the hose (a series circuit).

Hey ok awesome that's exactly what I did..I was just reading back and noticed parallel was recommended but thought like you find out might not flow enough..

What is the coolest temp you have had yours down to?

It would be kind of pointless me really answering that question, as my truck has spent the majority of its life living under its carport.
Also, as much as my system does have the ability to heat the engine, in Australia this is a pretty useless function, as it really does not get that cold here.

Sorry I meant what was the coldest outside temp have you used yours at and how well did it heat the engine?

My U500 came with an optional factory installed 9kw Webasto for cab and engine pre-heating. It gets the engine and cab toasty warm in about 45 minutes, even at temperatures below -25F.
The camper has 5 kw Thermo Top C with 3 radiators - one in the bathroom, one near the floor and a heating circuit under the mattress. At -25 F it takes 8-12 hrs to reach steady state even with the bathroom door open, but after that runs at perhaps 30-50% duty cycle. If I were camping in icy weather I would add a Webasto 2kw forced air heater. Or of course a tiny wood stove with hot water loop (there's a thread going right know about one designed from a gas bottle by a guy from Slovenia) would be nice for redundancy.

Just engine heater...it's actually for a work truck. Not a expedition vehicle just turns out this is the best place for Fuso info..

I am building it for decent power and efficiency..Just a solid little work truck
