Why are most aftermarket wheels so BroDozer?

I know of an awesome 2017 F150 with take of Raptor Wheels and 35's and its such an awesome truck and the wheels are a dark gray. Sexiest truck around.

American Racing still makes what I think of as traditional looking aftermarket wheels (e.g. Outlaw, Baja sort of like @geoffff has, etc). That said I usually still prefer alloy or steel OEM, take-offs can sometimes be reasonable.

Not to mention there's always the cheap, plain steel ones. What I've always heard called "wagon wheels" anyway.

*Edit to say, 7.5 is a bit narrow, but even raptor wheels are 8.5. can't you run 315s on an 8.5?
You absolutely can run a 12.5" tire on an 8.5" wheel. I've been running a 12.5" tire on an 8" wheels for decades. It actually helps keep the bead on when aired down more than a wider wheel.

Like @DaveInDenver said, there are a few companies that still make "normal" looking aftermarket wheels. Those are the ones that I still tend to go for. (y)

Fords have 6x135mm bolt pattern, its an odd ball so most wheels are made in the much more common 6x5.5" (6x139.7mm) bolt pattern. Ford switched to this bolt pattern in 2004 I believe with the 11 gen F150 around the time big wheels were becoming common place. This makes it hard to find traditionally style off road wheels (wagon wheels, steelies, etc) that fit F150s. the only steel wheels I know of that fit are OEM ones. Most 17s are marketed as replacements for Raptors and are typically 8.5" wide or wider. F150s lack the aftermarket wheel selection that other makes and models have available.

That's bizarre considering how popular of a vehicle it is and how long it's kept the volt pattern and offset. The 2021 have an even slightly more positive offset than prior Generation trucks due to the wider track if I'm not mistaken. This is another consideration of mine, as if I drop all this money on wheels and tires, and replace my truck in two years, I'd like the gear to carry over.
I'm not planning to run a 315 in any case.
Either a 285/70R17 or a 255/80R17, and I certainly don't want to mount a 255 on a 9" rim

That is a different bolt pattern but if I'm not mistaken (big 'if') the 6x135 is also what Nissan uses now. So it shouldn't be that odd anymore. But since my Tacoma still uses the Chevy, Toyota, etc 6x5.5 pattern that Moses was dealing with when he was in short pants I can't say I've looked through catalogs extensively.

You could check into Hutchinson real internal beadlock wheels. They are actually functional but only advantage over stock steel is for major deflation offroad without fear of debeading. Which is still theoretically possible for the tire bead on the inside with “mass market beadlocks”. Unless there’s something on the inner rim of these wheels like the tsunami of pictures of the outside of small size (<20”) beadlocks. Which I’m unaware of.
Again, only relevant if you get in situations where major deflation is needed.
Hutchinsons are NOT designed with bling in mind.

Haven't seen any styled steel wheels when I use the fitment options on the wheel sites I've been to. Just the basic winter type. Pickings are scarce locally for any take offs at the moment

A bit of gorilla tape goes a long ways towards improving bead retention on conventional wheels.
I even wrap the inner beads on my conventional clamp style bead-lock wheels.
2 wraps of Gorilla brand is a good starting point. 3 can get quite snug. 4 is usually almost impossible to get the bead to seat under max tire pressure rating.

The same technique can be used for outer beads.
It takes a bit more care to make sure things are smooth over the steeper drop to the center of the wheel.

$20 in tape will get you into the low single digits on most vehicles.

OEM wheel on my F150 is 17x7.5 +44.
I'm trying to find aftermarket wheels: a) without fake beadlocks b) that aren't hideous, c) that have a positive offset of +20 or +25 or 30 etc, d) aren't wider than 8.5. e) aren't black
What's with all the 0 offset 9" wide wheels? Is it because everyone loves riding around with tires 2" past the fenders?
Ive so far found Method 705 in titanium with 17x8.5 +25, Method 703 in 17x7.5 +20 but they are black.
17x8.5 Raceline 944GS Outlander Greystone +18mm
And vision 355 Manx Overland 2 but they are 17x9 +20mm so that's at least 3/4" past my fenders
Who do you think is buying them?
My neighborhood all the houses sell for 1.2 mill or higher. Lots of very expensive trucks very few are on after market wheels. My brother lives in the same state 130 miles away where the homes sell for about 500-600k and pretty much every vehicle be it Civic, truck, buick etc is riding on some super crazy look at me after market wheel. Lol

I love my Method Wheels on my Excursion. I can't reccomend them enough. Scored these used with tires. I don't like the simulated beadlocks either but the price was too good to pass up and they have grown on me. Plus..if I ever need any screws I always have 100 with me! lol I think these are the Method 315´s. I was also not sure about the brght aluminum look, but Its grown on me and kinda goes with the Chrome bumpers.
