Why do folks say, "Jeeps aren't expedition vehicles?"

Driving the rubicon once isn't really going to prove anything. Take them all to Africa or Australia and drive them off road and rely on them for your life for at least a year and see which one survives.

So, you are saying the Hummer 1 makes a great expo vehicle?

You said that driving the Rubicon wasn't proving everything, driving a vehicle all over Africa and Australia (and presumably other limited support areas) while relying on the vehicle for your life for a year. I have done this, in a beater M1026, and I would NEVER consider the family for a trip where I had to maintain and repair them out of my pocket. I have seen beat-to-snot Toyota Camarys and Chevy Caprices make these trips, with very questionable maintenance... but I wouldn't consider them either.

The only thing I find wrong with my wrangler is its a little cramped with 2 kids and loaded down with camping gear

Cool? I've been in hmmwvs a lot. They are good trucks. But what does that have to do with the rubicon trail and what I said?
