Why I Bought a Ford F250 Tremor for a Four Wheel Campers Hawk UTE

Your front axle is a Dana 60 with an open carrier, ford only options the limited slip front on the tremor and open carrier on others.

That‘s actually good to know. I understand that it’s a trac-lok anyway, not exactly the prized LSD. I was a little bummed and contemplating a OX. We’ll see how three wheeling goes.

It actually uses a Torsen front diff. They work very well.

Can you point me towards any evidence of what is supposed to come with what on a super duty? I greatly appreciate it. It’s all so confusing. There are all sorts of threads on ford-trucks that say it’s a clutch LSD. They say Raptor has the torsen.

I was wrong. I was thinking about the Tremor F-150 and Raptor. It is a 60 LS.

It will go better than you think, I got stuck in some soupy mud in 2wd, pulled the knob to engage the locker and drove out, never had to use 4 wheel drive that day.

Is there an option to add a larger gas tank aftermarket for the 7.3? My limited understanding is there is for the 6.7 diesel but not the 7.3 because of EPA rules/regulations? Part of the appeal of the 6.7 for me is the option of getting a larger fuel tank.

What configuration of truck are you interested in?

Stock fuel capacity depends on WB, and gas or diesel.

I'm looking at a crew cab with the 6-3/4' bed. The 8 foot bed is way longer than I need. I'm considering both the 7.3Gas and the 6.7 Diesel. I don't tow so leaning more towards the gas for the cost savings but I like that I can put an aftermarket 60 gallon tank on the 6.7 diesel.

Looks like a $200 US difference between a CCSB and a CCLB, the CCLB factory 48 gallon tank holds about 40% more fuel than the CCSB 34 gallon tank, and the CCLB has more room in the bed for gas cans or an external tank! :)

Just ignore turning radius and overall length of the vehicle!

I guess it really depends on what one wants to do with the vehicle. For us, turning radius and wheelbase ruled over range. Even at 10MPG, that’s 340 miles.

How much bigger is the 48 gallon tank vs the 34 tank in terms of dimensions? Is there enough space to take the 48 gallon tank and put it on the ccsb? Turning radius and wheelbase are way more important to me than distance between fill ups.

Hoping that as 3/4 and 1 ton gas trucks become more popular, as seems to be happening, there will start to be support for aftermarket fuel tanks for gas models. love my 36 gallon tank on my F150, would seriously look at a crew cab long bed to be able to get a 48 gallon tank if/when I step up to a bigger truck.

I don't think it's an issue of aftermarket support/interest but rather EPA regulations.

 ... It appears my sarcasm regarding ignoring turning radius and overall length wasn't clear. ... :)

I doubt the factory 48 gallon CCLB tank will fit in the factory 34 gallon CCSB spot, otherwise Ford would likely have used the 48 gallon tank for both pickup trucks.

Re: larger replacement gas tank. According to a FTE post, the good news is, for 2017+ F2/350 CCSB gas trucks a 58 gal Transfer Flow tank is in the works ...

That is great news for this truck
