WilderNest (Build year, unknown)

Hi all! I have a WilderNest pop n flop camper shell that I’d love to keep but don’t have the proper platform to do so. I came into ownership by way of a death of a friend of a friend’s friend, sadly, and thought it’d fit my Dakota but obviously does not.

It’s the 8’ model.

I’m in Phoenix, Arizona. Metrocenter area. Come fast!

It sat, folded, for a few years it seems. Once I opened it up, tbh, it looks like it’d never been used, and if it had, only once or twice. The canvas(*or whatever the material is) is in decent shape overall, with varying degrees from excellent to could be better. It has small amounts of weathering (which I’m in process of cleaning up) and has two very small wear-tears that could very easily be patched up. It also needs new struts fit the rear hatch and one of the side windows is broken out, completely. There are minor stresses in the fiberglass but nothing out of the ordinary and by no means structurally deficient.

It needs a good home. As it sits, I value it at $1,250, negotiable. If it’s here long enough for me to replace the glass and struts, etc, it’s value will obviously rise.

He's asking if you know why the front of the shell has the window cut out and open like this:

When it originally looked like this:

I'd guess the front was cut open for a pass through to the cab perhaps?

Aaaah! since I wasn’t there, I assume that’s the reason. I had no idea it already had a slider on it. I haven’t found any rubber buffer anywhere, but I bet that’s what he did

That photo shows a lot of little attachments that mine doesn’t have- are those aftermarket, a different year or DIY thingys?

That is a 'Nest I had a few years ago and sold to a member of my 4x4 club. The brackets on top are for a Yakima roof rack, it's common but not all WilderNests will have them.

The eye bolts and large brackets on the side were put on by a previous owner who I think used them to carry a whitewater raft. That's a total DIY.

Other than the front panel modifications yours looks pretty typical.
