Hi Kcowyo, Yeah it is an Elephant Seal. He was about 10 feet long and close to 4 feet across. My wife and I were out hiking at Pt Reyes St Park and came across him on one of the beaches. His bellows were pretty amazing!

Thanks.

I wish we could've seen one on the beach but they stayed in the water. I couldn't even begin to describe that sound to others. Amazing indeed. We really enjoyed the Monterey Bay area.

Mark, do you still have your FWC?

Hi KC, They are amazing. If you are ever in Northern California in late January, check out around Point Reyes National Seashore area. They are often sitting on the beaches sunning themselves.
I still have the FWC and still love it.

THis was from the Galapagos. It's a raw unedited image. I crawled into a tidal pool to get it about 3' witha small Olypus SW 720 pocket camera. We had been snorkeling so I did not have my 10D unfortunetly.

These are from a few months ago I was on the Hillsborough river doing a guided trip. These were a few highlight shots from the day again unedited just raw stuff.

headless Roseatte Spoonbill Just in from the gulf you can tell by the vivid coloration. Brine adds vibrance to the wading birds.

Another cool visitor (or should I say visitors) to the homestead. A group of Cedar Waxwings decided to drop in today - probably the lack of water around the area drew them to our oasis.

An amazing bird really - beautiful colors, and a cool crest (not shown).

And not to be outdone, a clan of grubby Starlings scared them off and drained the watering hole.

Awesome photos of the cedar waxwings. I have never gotten a good look at one other than a glancing binocular view. Very cool photos. :victory:

WOW. How did you get them to land on your hand like that?

I'm permitted for bird banding and work in my yard occasionally with mist-nets. :costumed-smiley-007 They are in their winter plumage now and are pretty drab, the finches will be brilliant in a few more months.
