They work/store/use, great, but

You MUST use a very light "gas pedal" other wise they will bunch up

Just use good technique and they are great, in place of a winch

They are discussed a bit in the great ExPo sand ladder thread. I've had a set with me on a regular basis. Its seem the majority of its use as a floor-mat for showering, drains nice and is long enough to put your shoes on the end that isn't getting wet. But we did play with them in some different traction scenarios and found them useful. Haven't been forced to use them on a 'need' basis but I think they are a valid tool.
