XPCamper Updates

Nothing sexy...just a nine mile dirt road which leads to Stoneman Lake (S of Mormon Lake) and was a nice shortcut over to I-17. However, the washboards on the road provided nice confirmation that my bought-sight-unseen full-size truck with suspension upgrades and XPCamper combo handle just like my Toyota Tacoma with suspension upgrades and FWC Fleet combo.

The XPCamper Crew gathered for a photo on the day of delivery.

The small banner Marc is holding is a fabric map of Germany which I brought from Leipzig as a token gesture in celebration of Germany's great reputation for engineering. While that might sound like a really over-the-top personal touch, my effort was really akin to getting a magnet at the local truck stop since my stop at the Leipzig airport was to simply gas up the plane (not mine, just a passenger).

KC is on the far right. She's the XP mascot and leads the welcome committee in the front office.

Tenacious Toni is the understated superstar and keeps the draught horses under control and pulling together at XP. Without her, XP would probably be nothing more than a group of noisy guys (with a big German leading the charge) in a garage engaged in beer, brawling, bathroom humor and banging on things.

Dynamite Dean (aka Double Thumbs Up Dean) is the young stud at XP. Tremendous knowledge and energy to tackle new, challenging projects. Can beer bong a six pack of Monster energy drinks in 30 seconds or less.

Fearless Fred (left of Dean) is the quiet, strong and steady counterpart to Dean.

The Tycoon of Teak (red shirt under black shirt) wields chop saws and jig saws like a samurai.

Atlas Adam the Answer Man....retired Coastie aviator and current executive officer of the XP Squadron holding up Marc's empire on Clydesdale Court. Adam is aka the Pharoah of Flatbeds at XP and installs all the electrical wiring to include the labeling. Expert problem solver, great family man and has superb taste in beer.

Kneeling on the far left is the upholstery guy. My wife got lots of positive comments from the ladies about the upholstery at the OE.

Next to Marc is another seasoned teammate Marc has pulled in to be a part of XP.

That taco version looks really cool. I looked thru the thread for a ball park weight? I was a Toyota guy most of my life, and none of them had very big payloads ( except a 2wd long bed reg cab.) I'm not a weight cop, but like to be within spec +- a few hundred :)

Sorry if I missed it, but what will be the basic design of the V3?

Also, on the V2, is it a molded shell or panels that are bolted together?

Thanks.

I will direct you to posts 162-166 in this thread for a brief discussion regarding the V3.

The V2 is a moulded fiberglass/foam core/fiberglass shell just like the V1.

F350 + XPCamper are everything we wanted.

Huge gains over our itty-bitty Tacoma + FWC Fleet camper without a disproportionate increase in dimensions (negligible, really).

Handling on paved and unpaved curvy mountain roads = excellent tracking, no body sway, no feedback from XP.

Fully loaded and 75 mph up long climbs = :D

Rutted, single-lane FS roads = only getting warmed up. Loving my '05's coil-sprung turning radius.

More to follow as we take our dirt yacht into the Colorado high country.

I really like your setup with the spare tires. Can you provide some more build details. For instance, I am interested to know what tire size (35's?) and did you do any other modifications to the truck; looks like suspension but have you added lockers, etc? How has it been off road?

Credit for the spare tire location goes to Chris from U-Joint Offroad.

Icon Vehicle Dynamics 4.5" lift + Deaver leaf pack.

35" Toyo Open Country AT II (AWESOME shoes).

Air bags (for levelling) with Daystar's new universal cradle (prevents stretching during wheel droop) are up next.

Rear ARB locker on hand in one of my storage boxes...will install after we get to Denver. Really just insurance for snowy / muddy roads, no intention to use it on rocks.

Ford turning radius is awesome. XP dimensions are city-sweet. Can't believe how similar the F350 + XP feel to our Tacoma + Fleet.

Currently in Durango and headed off road today. Going to see if Ophir is clear in a few more days. Can't wait....non-stop Q&A from Sacramento to Durango :D .

I'm amazed at how well these have taken off and that there is now smaller one coming out. They are way out of anything I can afford but they don't stop me from ideas.

Keep up the amazing work and can't wait to see what new comes out!
