For all that are interested in this radio, this is a great beginners unit, or used as a supplement to a vehicle mounted HAM.

With a good antenna, this becomes a very powerful HT, and even with the factory ant., you will do well with it.

I just bought this unit at HRO. Great radio used by many school districts here in SoCal. It's easy to use and works well so far for me. The rubber duck antenna seems to work great for as small as it is and i can hit Big Bear on 2m repeater no sweat.

Like mentioned above this is kinda the hot ticket for a dual band HT.

Wouldn't that be illegal? Ham isn't for commercial use and even though they are a government entity that doesn't fall under the correct classification for the Ham frequencies.

I don't know, HRO said they sell a ton of them to schools in our area. I know that the Solder Joint orange sets schools up with radios as well and each school pays for a freq and is licensed to use it. I don't know enough about it all.

To get back on topic..
I was driving around OC today listening to a few repeaters and 2m national simplex on my FT-60 while sitting in traffic in the work rig. They are great little radios.
