4wd diesel on CL
No affiliation, but local if someone wants a scout
http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/1703307194.html
This would be an ideal vehicle for Burning Man!
Highlights:
4WD
Turbo diesel has ~80K miles
Magneto-electric retarder braking system
Good tread on tires
Fun as heck to drive!
This is truly a unique vehicle.
The original owner spent about $75K building this beast to sell ski wax
and tow his boat around in the mountains.
It's four wheel drive! Well, it has dualies in the back, so I guess that makes it 6WD? LOL!
The conversion was done by a company in Utah. They completely removed
the front end and put in a Dana 60 front axle, zombie proofing, American transmission and
transfer case. I'll even throw in Four wheel low for no additional cost to
you, the consumer!
I've taken it to Moab several times and driven around in the sand...
never got stuck.
It has a Fiat 336 Cu/In turbo diesel with about 80K miles.
A really cool feature is the electro-magnetic retarder. This sits
around the drive shaft and uses electricity to slow the vehicle down
without using the brakes. It works very well. Coming down from the
Eisenhower tunnel toward Denver I can hold 55MPH without gearing down or
touching the brakes.
The front half of the box has a table/bench combo that converts to a bed.
It also has a propane heater on a thermostat to keep the inside warm.
This isn't really an "RV" per se since it doesn't have a kitchen or sink.
But it has a propane tank for the heater so a stove would be pretty easy to install.
The front half of the box is also covered from floor to ceiling in brownish shag carpet,
so it's got that going for it!
The back half has diamond plate on the floor and plywood walls with
securing straps on one side.
There is a ramp that pulls out of the back to allow easy loading of gear.
You can ride a motorcycle up it and into the back of the truck if you're
brave.
The side door has stairs that fold down for easy access.
