To LR4 from JKUR? Need advice...

Tan interior - ugh....

I have a white/black LR3 - much more better

Silver/black is a pretty good looking combination as well - my friend Tyrone bought this one 14 hours before he took it on a trail ride in North Georgia.

Agreed 100%. We looked at every color combination possible before deciding on what we did. My wife's only requirement was white exterior. My only requirement was black interior. We waited a while but found what we wanted.

When used car shopping, irrelevant stuff like colour and trim are always at the bottom of my list....if they make it on the list at all.

There are far bigger fish to fry when it comes to used Land Rovers.

Interior color and trim level is a big factor as well - you just have to be patient and wait for the right car to come along.

I wanted an HSE for the heated seats and upgraded stereo and my first preference was for "Expedition White".
I did not want to be staring at a sea of beige every time I drove the car - made that mistake once with a BMW 525 and only kept the car for about six months.

I must be the opposite then Roverandom.

Colour and trim was right at the top of my list.. :D
If it didn't have black interior and was HSE spec. I wasn't interested. I usually keep my car's for 3 years or so, the D3 is for life. I wasn't going to spend the life of the car looking at the wrong interior or the wrong trim.
I narrowed down the colours to either black or silver. I went with my gut feeling on a silver one that was 200 miles away. ( not a large distance in the US, but here in Scotland, it is, haha. )

It was exactly like the silver one posted on this thread.

Well I took the 12 for the weekend. At the very least I could spend enough time to be 100% on my buying decision. It's fantastic on every level, what a fantastic vehicle. Granted my Jeep is a lot of fun, but this is a better fit for 95%of my driving. I got the feeling that my wife is OK with whatever I do now. Fortunately the time made me realize on this one, 30k service is around the corner and the tires are thin. The plus is that it's very very clean, in perfect shape all around. Making a move Wednesday if all goes well and I can make up my mind.

I have been eagerly watching this thread waiting to see what you do. I think you are making a good decision. As I mentioned (and posted pictures of earlier), I have a 2013 and only have 13,000 miles; however, I did spend about $3,000 a get a LR extended warranty. This now covers me to 2020 or 100,000 miles - whatever comes first. I don't put a lot of miles on my LR4, so it will work out well - as a just in case, even though there are things that are not covered. I think just having it is a good thing - just in case!

My LR4 is finally done since I got the spare tire carrier mounted, but now doing the expedition accessories slowly. Best of luck!!!

Oh, as a bit of a side note... I stopped at a toyota dealership because I saw the new 4Runner TRD Pro and the sales guys all loved my truck.

I was shocked that they offered me $60,000 for it right then and there if I bought the TRD Pro or a Land Cruiser. I said no of course, but was surprised at the offer.

With everything you have on your LR4, 60k is pretty low. I am guessing an optioned out 2013 LR4 is going to hold its value pretty well, especially given the next model year. It may just be the last V8 Land Rover (non Range Rover) to be made.

Yes, that's true. I would never trade it in to a dealership but would sell to an enthusiast. Honestly, they are the only ones who would want it. I have about $15,000 in mods on top of my 2013 HSE Lux, Heavy Duty, black design pack with rare Arabica leather interior. Plus I only have 13,000 miles. I bet I could get $70,000 (maybe) from someone who wants a modified LR4 :)

That's funny. I'm pretty much the opposite as you, my exteriors are dark (usually black) and I prefer my interiors lighter. I love the tan, my DII is black/tan. I made the "mistake" of buying my old '02 540i at black on black.

But yeah, interior/exterior colors aren't a huge priority, but you can usually get what you want if you wait!

Well guys I'm still jammed up on a decision. After the weekend in the 12 a couple things need to be addressed and I've brought these up to my friend already. Some of it is from doing my research on this forum and some LR enthusiast ones as well. At the 27k mile mark, I realized brakes have not been changed and should be about due. Also, the 30k service is peeking around the corner too, and the tires are pretty thin (I'd be replacing anyhow, but I like to use the funds from selling the tires to fund mods). Couple those concerns with the $48k price tag...starting to sway. Granted the vehicle is in immaculate shape, can't tell it from new, but if I'm putting 3-4k into it off the bat perhaps I should just go brand new at that point. Taking another drive in the '11 tomorrow for further comparison. For the $10k price difference, I might have to go with a year older and the extra 10k miles. The other added bonus is the 11 is at the LR dealer that's 15 min from my house. It's a solid vehicle with all the dealer maintenance up to date and the certified warranty until June of 2016, plus the color combo that makes the wife happy. I'll continue to update you guys (although this thread is certainly not the most exciting I have to admit).

You're making a pretty strong argument for the '11.

Honestly, if my friend wasn't part of the equation, I would've pulled the trigger already. Known him for 15 years, he specializes in highline import vehicles, and his father who runs the service department is off-the-boat from the UK (more knowledge of imports than anyone around). It's no bother to him when I buy Jeeps and other vehicles, but the stuff in his wheelhouse is another thing entirely. Even heavily hinted with him about the price being high and he's not budging. Also don't want to burn the bridge because, beyond our friendship, I'm sure I'll buy many more cars off him in the future. The deal just doesn't compute!

Not to get too far into your personal business but it sounds like your friend is first and foremost making sure he gets the price he wants. I don't blame him since used LR4s are in high demand. He is making a business decision and he is using your relationship to make some money. That's what salesman do. They sell themselves and there is nothing wrong with that.

If the 11' makes more sense for you get that one and explain to him that is was a business decision not personal. I'm sure he can sell the 12' to someone else soon enough and make his money. I bet he would understand.

Here is a great example of the deals available out there. Just a quick browse through eBay.

2010 LR4 with a painted to match ARB front bumper, winch and LED driving lights. (about a $5000 package or better when you include labor)
This 10 has only 35K miles on it.
With a price of $37,900.00 (Buy it Now), it really is a good price. The truck has the Lux package. I really don't care for the tires, but there is a lot of money tied up in them.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Land-Rover-...edc954e0f&item=201269267983&pt=US_Cars_Trucks

PS: I have NO affiliation. Just listed as a representation. Buy all the truck you can going in. you get the goodies for the market value of the truck only
