Nice looking Rig
I am kind of low key over there, I only have a 3 or 400 post count, its a great site don't get me wrong but the advice given to people is always the same SAS this, 3.4 swap that when you CAN make both capable and reliable, no one wants to hear it over there though so I get kind of disapointed with the advice given because it seems no one thinks outside of the box ya know?
Ok I looked at your build thread for your roof rack over on YT and still have a few questions for you. I see that you are using what look like Yak door mount roof rack legs on the front of the rack, but what are you using on the rear to support the basket?
I have a 93 Runner with a naked roof, no factory roof rack, and the 4runner goes not have a gutter system for me to mount gutter supports. So my only option is door mounted supports for a roof rack, but I want to use the entire length of the roof and would also like it to be low profile so I am at a bit of a loss on how to make it work.
Hey Boosted, do you have any close-up's of how trhe ladder is secured on the bottom??? I see it's lionked to the rack above, but I can't tell how it's held on near the fender... Is it lonked to your sliders somehomw???
I love this idea of having the rack on the side, and with my 1st gen I think I could ties mine into the sliders since I don't have a 2nd door to worry about. Interested to see how you did it though.
What kind of 36's are you running. Boggers to me certainly have their place, they're just REALLY annoying to me to drive any distance on. THUNK THUNK THUNK... Glad to hear that the lift's working for you. If you've got the T-bars relaxed then I'll bet it flex's pretty well. That's the problem most of us come across with IFS is you end up running too much pre-load on the T-bars and then it's stiff as can be. I'm running BJ spacers and NO crank on the T-bars and it rides just like stock. Course my T-bars are getting old and creaky so I'm waiting on my OME units to get here. I went with them because I have OME's full line of suspension parts for my truck and they've worked GREAT and held up to lots of abuse. The OME t-bars are only like 1-2mm larger then stock so I'm hoping that they'll ride close to stock with added capacity...
Cheers
Dave
Your best bet would probably be to get a factory rack. You'd obviously have to drill through the roof, but it sounds like without gutters and wanting the rack to be full length, you would have to do some drilling either way.
