Is it weighed down as it would be fully loaded? If so sounds like ya need softer springs or shocks.

Can you have a gel battery and flooded battery, or other matches (new vs. old) charging off the same alternator, if you're using a battery isolator? Or does it not matter since it's using the same voltage regulator?

Maybe you could kindly ask somebody in business if you could plug in your ipod for a couple hours, maybe even a flight attendant if your friendly ;)

Also you may have some luck by using a charger with a 'desulfator' circuit, which is what battery stores and scrap yards use to remove sulfur buildup on the plates, to recondition old batteries.
