    Imogene Pass Run

Ugh. That looks insane. I'd like to be able to do something like that, just to know that I can, but... I don't think I'd like to do it. :)

    Imogene Pass Run

Thanks guys! My lungs never really gave out on me. Rather, I never noticed if they did because the knee was so painful. My quads did burn the next day, and now I have a pain in my foot which may be related to running too much too quickly in my Vibram Five Finger shoes. The Imogene pass is...

    Vibram Five Fingers

I just took mine on a 17.1 mile hike/run over Imogene pass between Ouray and Telluride, CO. The first time I managed to hike further than a few miles without blisters was in my VFFs. :victory:

    Imogene Pass Run

Thanks! :) I actually said (and truly believed) the same thing, but then my wife decided she was going to do it and somehow I ended up joining her. I would never have joined her in a (half) marathon up to that point, so I still can't say why I did this. I still have no intention of doing a...

    Imogene Pass Run

I did it! :wings: 4 hours, 50 minutes, but my knee bummed out about two miles from the summit. I ran (for the first time ever) the final few downhill miles, which eased my knee pain quite a bit.

    Imogene Pass Run

This is my second time going. I'm not a runner, nor am I terribly competitive; I (and my wife) was talked into it last time by my brother-in-law, and this time by my wife. It's been a few years, I didn't train at all, and now I'm wondering just how much am I going to regret it... It is...

    The Perfect Brew........!

Has anyone tried Brother Thelonious Belgian ale? I would have to special order it through their distributor, but it's intriguing enough to do it unless I get a very bad review... http://www.northcoastbrewing.com/beer-brotherThelonious.htm

    The "Expedition hat" thread

Still my favorite. http://www.sundayafternoons.com/store/adventure-hats.html Broad rim--shades entire face Dark inner--reduces reflected light in eyes Bright outer--reflects light from head Sufficient cover of the neck--I never have a sunburned neck with this hat Ventilated--It's never been...

    The Perfect Brew........!

Red Stripe is pretty good, for a lager. ;) The bottles aren't very home-brew friendly though (the short necks make them difficult to cap and decanting is nearly impossible), so I don't buy it.

    The Perfect Brew........!

I have a good job, but it's not your dream job. Most of my time is spent in a windowless office writing and running computer simulations. This trip to Toroweap/Tuweep will be one the few times I get to do field work (maybe once every two years). I have lots of travel, but usually to sit in...

    The Perfect Brew........!

It's a possibility. Son'll be in school, and DW may not have much time off, so I may only be able to go around a holiday. I don't know what my work travel schedule will be in that time frame. I have some field work to do at Toroweap/Tuweep, down in the canyon, so I may be running up there...

    The Perfect Brew........!

If given enough time, I'd be happy to put together a tasting, especially if others on here brew... I need about 1.5 months minimum to brew, ferment, bottle, and age the beer before it's worth drinking--2.5 months or more just makes it better, and it's very good at about 6 months. I can run...

    The Perfect Brew........!

Not to brag too much, but the best brew I've had was a 6-month old dunkelweizen that I brewed myself. Followed closely by the prickly pear mead, the porter, the oatmeal stout, and the irish red that I brewed myself... Oak Creek Brewing Company makes a good nutbrown ale. I need to get my...

Easy integration - lat long points, photos & notes. Is it possible?

I haven't tried it yet, but GPSNavX claims to support custom waypoints (if you find a fishing hole you like, describe it and add it as a waypoint)... You may get a lot of boating cruft with it, though. http://www.gpsnavx.com/index.php?page=Features
