    'Can't live without' one-pot recipes

What can't you make in one pot with some creativity? My normal 1 pot meals come from a dutch oven Some of my favorites when camping; Lasagna, Chicken and rice, stew, Mexican cornbread, chili, Tomale pie, None of these take much time if you're prepared. Chuck roast, brisket in onion gravy...

    Engaging E-Lockers in motion?

I take a little different approach to locking up. If I think I need to lock the rear, I click the nob and the light blinks away. Move forward into obstacle and if I don't need the locker it probably won't engage and keep blinking. If I do need it, enough slip has been created for it to engage...

my 80 series head gasket saga

First off, congrats on getting her back together. Secondly would be to never trust the stock temp guage. There is a flat spot where the temp will rise and the needle doesn't move. Either do a temp guage modification or get a real temp guage. On the overheating, my bet would be one of three...

uhm, no. There was a conversation on 80's and 4 runners till you derailed it.

    80 Series vs. 4th Gen 4Runner. Thoughts?

So, you feel no matter what the geography entails, the 100 is better?

    80 Series vs. 4th Gen 4Runner. Thoughts?

Anyone trying to liken Arizona weather and landscape to the Pacific NW to prove their point is either an idiot, is in desperate need of a geography lesson or is showing they will argue anything that contradicts their beliefs be them right or wrong.

my 80 series head gasket saga

Go buy a bunch of vacum line and replace it while apart, especially the egr formed hoses and lines around the vsv. Also check the vsv to make sure it's good to go. It would also be the best time to replace the firewall heater hoses and do a phh ectomie. Buck

    Expeditions West: FZJ80 Land Cruiser

Carbon build up can cause the pinging. Seafoam sucked into the intake through a vacum line can help. The best bang for buck mod to prevent future build up is to add a catch can in the pcv line between valve cover and throttle body. I've had one on the 80 for 4 years. Amazing how clean the intake...

    Optimistic man tackling Baboons Pass.

WOW I read Scotts reasons for thumb placement but like any bulletproof male, "that'll never happen to me". Your post and pictures might just save me some serious issues somewhere down the trail, it hit home. Thanks, Buck

Choosing between a LC or a LX

I have a 97 LX450 and had a 97 80 series. Tan interior is discontinued, as in good luck getting interior parts new. The windshield for the lx is money (750 bones). There is no aftermarket windshield that matches the bronze tint, period. There are aftermarket for the cruiser that matches their...

    The Price of Children

I have a 1.5 yo son and a 3.5 yo daughter. It is amazing how much joy and stress they can bring at the same time. It is an inner struggle for me at times. Wanting them to stay the age they are now but knowing my job is to raise them so they can go make their mark in the world. I recently...

    Dutch oven size??

Forget the 16. You'll need a crane to lift it. I am a two oven guy for large crowds. A deep and a regular. The deep acommodates roasts and whole chickens better. The deep is also a little better for baking as when the bread rises it doesnt get so close to the top it burns. For your needs, you...

    The evolution of "Alpine" Tundra

I had the chance to see the Alpine Tundra up close. Great looking rig with well executed modifications. For me, the way the 2 meter radio face plate was installed was really quite cool. And if you haven't met Gary personally, he is one heck of a nice guy. Buck Breakfeast or lunch is on me...

    The evolution of "Alpine" Tundra

Looking great. Quick question. Did you take a measurement after you added the additional leaf? Been busy at the office and haven't had a chance to get out and meet ya. We still need to get together for lunch. Buck PS Did you make it out to Big Bend with your son?

    Shotgun Cleaning Question

I know this thread is a little old but would like to add my 02. I ALWAYS transport my guns in a lockable hard sided case. After I shoot, I give em a wipe down like the suggestions above. When I get home I take em back out of the hard case to store in a gun sock. I normally clean my upland once...

    Starting kids on skeet shooting

Before I had children, I tought my nephews to wing shoot. (My kids are 2.8 and 8 mos. in due time) The first thing i did was teach them about pattern. Go to a butcher shop and buy a large roll of butcher paper. Hang the paper horizontally and have them begin swinging and shooting at the paper. I...
