so the suburban is gone, sold last night after work. i like it when they sell fast. like ripping off a bandaid.

i'll give you guys a hint as to what is going on next week. and two of them won't fit without modification to the vehicle.

we worked on cleaning up the garage this after noon and getting it organised. selling the suburban (aka mobile storage unit) meant unloading everything into the garage that is already lacking in storage space. hoping tomorrow i can start tearing stuff apart.

updates

so here is the start of what i am working on. you might see a glimpse of the excursion we added to our collection. i will get better pics of it after we wash it.

the tires and wheels on the back are what is going on the front. 24 bolt hummer rims with pvc beadlock carrying siped and grooved 37" goodyear mt's. so far i like how these handle, ride, and sound.

this is not finished welded yet. i just buzzed it in with a lincoln 100. planning on plating over the seam as well when done with some 1/8th"

this is a super duty f250 leaf spring mounted 1" forward of stock, shooting for 3" or less of lift. if it is more than i want i will just swap leafs with the excursion.

Tank,

Looking good, glad it is coming together for you.

Like bfdiesel said, friday is coming and I think the 70 degree days are over for a while.

Is the rear multi-position spring hanger mount going to be welded to the frame as well?

Good idea on both the front and rear to dial in axle position and shackle angle.

The Excursion has X-codes in the front, very soft and I think reverse arch, might not work so well for your future power plant. If its too high, its time to put some more weight in the front

Cheers, Chris

yes everything will be adjustable front and back. i have it mounted one inch forward of stock, on the front hanger. the rear hanger the shackle is mounted in the stock position. i could move the shackle forward a couple wholes to smooth the ride out if needed. i the the f250 springs are going to be perfect. the way it is sitting now on the drivers side it has 1.5" of lift. perfect for what i wanted. i was trying to keep it around 2". rear hanger still needs bracing. added bonus the sd springs take 3/4" bolts super beefy.

time for a story...

bfdiesel (thanks by the way!) came down and helped me put together the passenger side mounts. got a dually hub on with the 1997 ebc brake rotor which is 0.5" bigger than the 94 rotor also is dimpled and slotted. the only rotor i could find for a 94 was an economy model. i wanted a better rotor yada yada yada. when we got it done we were admiring our work and i commented that the lower shock mount looked a little weird but didn't think anything of it. we were tired, cold, and the snow coming down outside was starting to blow inside the garage that the f350 was half in.
while sitting in my office (aka the crapper), it started to bug me as to why the shock mount was cockeyed compared to stock. if i did my reverse shackle mod. both ends should have come down the same distance and the shock mount stayed the same. then it dawned on me. i had measured 3" down from the top shackle mount and hadn't included the front shackle in the measurement. it should have been 7.5" down from the top shackle mount not 3". major face palm. fortunately the rear mounts came out perfect.

regarding getting the rotors to fit, i will have them machined down to 12.5"s from 13's and that should resolve my fitment issues.

until next time........
