Wow it's been a while since I've updated my build. Well maybe I'll get to it this week, but for now i come to seek your opinions.
My OEM battery is just about dead. I have a winch, lights, and a fridge now; so, I've been looking for a dual battery system. I also want use battery maintainer to try to extend the life of the batteries. I have a plan and i want to know what you think.
I plan to buy a
Sears DieHard platinum group 31 battery to replace my stocker. This is supposedly comparable to an
Odyssey 2150. This battery will be my main battery (starting, winching, lights, fridge.) and I have a
optima blue top group 34 in a [ame="http://www.amazon.com/MinnKota-Trolling-Motor-Power-Center/dp/B001PTHKMG"]Minn Kota battery case[/ame] that I plan to use as my backup. I also plan to use this as a power pack for times when I want to leave the fridge at camp or in a bear locker.
next I plan to use a
Batteryminder designed for AGM batteries. The Batterymineder
website reads it can charge up to four batteries in parallel.
Now for the isolator/combiner. I was thinking of using a
Hellraoring system, but I'm not sure how it will interact with the Batteryminder. If i put the Batteryminer on the main battery, will it charge the aux battery becuase it will see the charger? Or, will it stay isolated? If it will stay isolated, is it acceptable to leave the combine switch on while the Batteryminder is plugged in? Or should i just go a different route?
wrap up:
Is the DieHard a good battery for my intended purpose, and will it fit in my truck?
Is there any reason i shouldn't get this batteryminder?
and what are your thought about going through the Hellroaring system to maintain my batteries?
