Yep, the cover to hide the scratches and dents! :)

I think SoCalFJ used stickers to hide the scratches on his! Anybody calculate what the R-factor of a bunch of stickers is?? :jumping:

Too variable, depends on the thickness of the steeker 'lamination' and how many trapped air bubbles.

R value is just Thickness/Thermal Conductivity, right?

If we want to look at thermal resistance we'll call the sticker thickness variable T and length and width are L and W assuming a rectangular sticker and dimensions in meters so the sticker density will be in Kg/(m)^3 and specific heat will be in J/kg-degK

The Air bubbles will have a thermal conductivity based on their volume and will be additive. Layered stickers will be assumed to be additive also....color of stickers will not be factored in! Stickers from other forums are RIGHT OUT!

How many 12oz. cans of soda can you fit in a 45qt. Engle?

Thanks

EDIT: Found my answer: around 60 cans. So I could fit 48 cans and still have plenty of room for bottled water! Sounds perfect for my frequent one night camping trips. Plus it would come in very handy for the multi day camping trips.

You drink 48 cans in one night!? :) Gotta love the Engels!

Is this a trick question? The answer has to be that it doesn't matter how many pops will fit on account of all the beer that's already in there.

Teotwaki,
I was looking at the two zones and trying to decide which was the best option for me and I concluded that the second larger unit (45) would be best. Then the realization hit me that I am saving up for a Horizon, so, a new Engel is on the back burner for now.

Another critical point was brought up in favor of a second Engel that on a recent desert adventure one of us nearly lost the ice cream!!! A second Engel would ensure that a backup freezer would always be available.

Could be that there is room for a 1/2 gallon somewhere else in the truck, to top off all that soda.

Reply to the solar fan remark

I mounted a Nicro Solar vent in the Superu this spring and it does help out when parked all day in the summer heat. It's not a miracle worker but it keeps things a good 15 - 20 degrees cooler inside based on a few tests in 85+ degree weather. Leak free in torrential rains at 65 mph and even through the car wash!

I'm thinking about adding a pair to the back on either side of the spotlight to help the Engel 45 stay cooler. :chowtime:
