Thanks again Wil.

Hey Pablo, any idea how thick these are? They look pretty robust, do you think their will be any issues with a 100 lb beast sleeping, walking, scratching or jumping on them? Meaning are they as thick as say a Scepter or a bit thinner? What about stacking say a heavy tool bag on top of it? Will it deform or crush?

Hey Kurt,

I honestly think that you could put just about anything you want on top of the tank, short of a fridge. A tool bag, Jada, or most of your gear. I would put the thickness somewhere a Scepter MFC and a Scepter water can. Very stout for what it is.

Dave, thanks for clearing up the fitting concern. I am glad to hear you found the right ones. Sealing the black cap makes sense. The tank needs air in to displace the water out. If the tank is sealed, the water won't go anywhere. Thanks for sharing the photos and info.

Cheers,

Great thanks for the detailed reply Paul, I'll take one. This buys me some room in the back of the truck. LMK if you still have one in SLC and I'll come grab it.

Test Fitment in our 80 Series...

I have no clue what im going to do with the hose yet.. seems weird to me, no matter where i place it. Also, i kept the rugged floor mat in place for any sudden leaks. Just good to have imho.

The steel bar setup is the African Outback bed extensions that bolt in place of stock mounts for the 2nd row seats. I just took the extensions out for a better view and ease of install. We use that under deck for storage of light items, sleeping bags and other items we don't want crushed.

Hey Dave, how are you securing the tank to the floor?

Has anyone used or have experience with the 40L Rack Mount Water Tank ?

I am thinking about flat mounting it to my truck bed floor just in front of or over the rear axle. I thought it might be a good spot for easy hose access at the tailgate.

My estimates show the tank plus mounting and full of water should be close to 100 lbs.

Is there any baffle type structure inside the tanks ?

Anyone see any problems with the hose routing with this application ?

Anyone feel 40L is to large ?

I have used the 40L rack mount water tank, I had it mounted inside my FJ close to over the rear axle. I really liked it, It had the capacity I needed, was well made and held the tank securely. Unfortunately it ultimately didn't work for my particular situation, I had to mount it with the water outlet facing the driver side of interior. If I had a few more inches I could have mounted it with the water outlet pointed at the rear door. The problem I encountered was every time I drained water from the tank it moved the adapter at the tank (due to moving hose to a usable position) about a 1/4 turn and it would eventually start leaking at the threads no matter what I tried to seal it with. If I could of pointed it out to the rear it would still be in my FJ, I think for most people it would be a great water storage container.

Mine did not have a baffle in it.

If you have the room to mount it so the water outlet points to the rear you should have no issues with hose routing IMO

40L of water was the minimum amount I wanted to carry, so no I don't think its to large.

BTW Paul @ Equipt is a stand up vendor IMO, he let me return the tank even though I had used it some. He wanted me to be happy so I bought a RTT from him. :wings:

I mounted my Front Runner Jerry can in my 4Runner rear cargo area. The hold down worked perfectly. I LOVE this can. One will also be going in my Xterra!

Thanks Equipt!

You are welcome. That looks great in there. How did you mount in the truck? Bottom? Side?

Mounted to the custom board I made. I had to drill out the holes and use counter-sink bolts to avoid damage to the bottom of the can. The bolts screw in to 5/16 T-nuts under the line-x coated board. Worked like a charm.

Also, here is a shot of the can being used. The spout is so handy.. no more two-handed holding of a water can. Helps conserve on water.

Of course, using a blender to make mudslides in the middle of the desert is pretty ridiculous, and contradictory to the whole conserving water thing.. but hey!

Great work. And I see nothing wrong with a mudslide in the desert. Perfect place for one, if you ask me.
