Awesome pics so far!

Thanks a ton for getting these up. I can only imagine how much fun you guys had, but these photos sure make it easier to imagine it.

Wait... is that rain or drool?

It could have been drool, but its rain. 2+" in the last hour in NW Houston. :snorkel: Time to lock the hubs. :REExeSwimmingHL:

Whew.....just got home a couple of hours ago. WHAT A TRIP!

That was the best time I have had in perhaps, ever....!:wings:

Downloading my pics right now...probably look through them and get some posted up soon. Of course, I didn't have any pics of the sand course, because I was so caught up in watching, and then driving...I never even though of it.

I know I was one of the slower through the sand course, but it was still such a blast that at the end, I had to jump out and shake off the adrenaline. What fun!

I wish I had been able to stick around for the Overland course. Hopefully in the coming years, I can arrange a bit more time.

I hope that I can make it agian in the coming years, because that was some seriously great times.

There were certainly people having fun. That is great. But I didn't run into a single jerk - not even close.

Yep, LOL is appropriate. :) Actualy I would enjoy running my 4Runner in the sand course but I think I would leave the beast trailer at camp. I was happy with how it did on the overland route. No problems at all.

We'll see for next year, James and I made a good team so we may have to just kick it up a notch and kick some booty next year. :sport_box

PS. Your welcome on the ice cream..it was fun. I should have gotten the ice cream truck music off the internet and played it as I drove into camp.

Awesome Event!

Just a quick note to thank everyone for such an incredible time. This is such an awesome group of people who come together for an incredible event in a spectacular location!

Things I learned at this year's Trophy:

1. Primitive camping in the desert is AWESOME! (Thanks Fat_Man)
2. Packing out your waste isn't as bad as you think.
3. Appreciating a good cigar requires instruction. (Thanks 1LegLance)
4. Even snails taste good when cooked in garlic and butter. (Thanks Graham)
5. Everything tastes better wrapped in bacon.
6. Airing down your tires may save your kidneys.
7. Sometimes driving a little faster improves your ride through rough terrain (Thanks Windy)
8. Spending a little time with this group WILL change your outlook on life.
9. Westerners are incredibly friendly.
10. You can spend an hour looking for a laminated piece of paper in the desert even when you know exactly where it's supposed to be.
11. Overlanding is another word for freedom.
12. I have individual responsibility for the decisions that I make and their impact on the ecosystem.
13. Scorpions glow when you shine a black light on them. (Thanks Chuck!)

There are many more, but I can't think of them right now (I've been on the Interstate all day).

Although the competition was very exciting, my favorite event was the appetizer and cocktail competition. There's no better experience than walking through the desert on a cool evening with a drink in one hand, a cigar in the other, food coming from every direction and amazing people to converse with around every turn. I will NEVER forget that.

One other thing I'd like to mention as a new participant in this community - Even though the organizers were incredibly busy making this event happen, every one of them took time to meet me and have several conversations with me.

Pictures of my Trailer??

I didn't take anywhere near my normal number of pictures during the Trophy Event. If anyone got a shot of of my KK trailer on the overland route, please either post em up or email them to me. I will need all these memories as I waste away in my rocking chair in my retirement years. :shakin:

Thanks.
