Louis,
The Disco is looking good. Get up here to Northern AZ and we'll do some runs in Sedona/Jerome area.

I see that you are in the Air Force. I assume that you are using the auto hobby shop on base? I think that is the biggest benefit that I miss from the Navy. We had an awesome shop with inside bays, outdoor "shades", long term project areas, and a great paint booth. You could use the shop and tools for a couple bucks an hour. I have honestly thought of starting my own do it yourself business based on the military auto hobby shop principle. I just have to win the powerball first. I don't think it would make enough to be liquid.

Dave

Dave, I was active duty, so I used the hobby shop alot! Not so much these days but it was very nice to have all of the tools at my disposal. Thanks for the kind words and the invite, Having been stationed in Tucson we plan to come back at some point and we will take you up on the offer to do some wheeling!

Louis - the mods you are doing on your Disco look 'top-notch'!! You got some mad skilz.

Very capable looking rig without going over-the-top. Hopefully someday our off-road paths will cross.

Jim,

Thanks for the compliments, your Rover is quite impressive and tastefully modified also. What part of socal are you located in? Maybe we can plan a trip and get you over this way sometime.

.....someone who needs a new bumper!:shakin:

I had a blast on the first of our many adventures.

Santa,

Thanks for my new bumper. I didn't know I was in the market for one!

We had a blast also and look forward to the next one.

Louis - I am speculating your location is the Lancaster CA area. I travel there several times a year to visit relatives. I think Red Rock Canyon is fairly close to there and I've always wanted to check it out. I hear there are some fun technical trails to explore there. I would welcome the opportunity to meet/join other Expedition Portal folks on such an excursion (before it gets crazy hot out there).

Jim,

Funny you mention that because I just ran it for the first time yesterday thanks to Rich (MuddyMudSkipper) and we had a blast, pretty mild yet some fun technical sections too. I know if you made your way out here we would all be down to get something together and do some more exploring out in that area! Just let us know and we can try to coordinate something.

Jim,

Whenever you're out our way let us know. Red Rock isn't far from where we live at all. It's nice out there, especially if you have your winch hooked up and ready when you need it.

Roger That! Who was that being hooked up to the winch-line anyway? It's always the simple-looking obstacles that get you. Funny how that works out, isn't it? Bwaaahaaaaaahaaaaa! Looks like too much fun!

Have you guys been to Truck Haven (Salton Sea area)? Very cool place with lots of narrow, off-camber, articulating, hill climbing tracks. Maybe sometime this spring coordinate a camp-out/excursion out there.

The unfortunate S.O.B. that needed to be yanked was me. Gravity and very loose soil gave me a crash course lesson in physics that I'd soon like to forget. No winching would have resulted in peril for my truck making me the owner of the largest crushed aluminum recyclable in my area.

I went out to TruckHaven a couple of years ago in the late spring. I had an issue with my VSS on the way down and had to leave my truck at the Indian Casino and hop a ride with a buddy. I have not been back since.

Have you been out to Calico? It has a little bit of Truckhaven in it mixed in with some awesome terrain.

Haven't done very much wheelin' in the Mojave. Going through Goler Pass (Trona) to southern portion of Death Valley, does that count? Anza-Borrego is only a 2-hour drive for me so I usually go there for my overnight excursions. It's hard to beat sitting by a campfire at night under a million stars...

I'd be up for a Calico/Red Mountain Cyn trip (overnighter?).

Sounds like the start of another amazing trip!!!

Couldn't think of a better way to move forward into '08.

Sounds like something is brewing again!

Calico would definitely be a good overnighter. I think its in the stars for sometime in February.:Astrologist:

p.s. the post count gets higher and higher.
