Good looking site:smiley_drive: I some how broke a tie rod end on the jeep an unfortunately it was a custom part so I have to wait for a new one to come from Parts Mike in CA. If it comes Monday, I'll be going down Tuesday night. If the part doesn't come Monday, then I'll be driving my truck:mad:

Well at least now I won't have to feel so bad about leaving the LJ behind and driving my truck.

How where the ticks last weekend? They are pretty bad here in Virgina this year.

No ticks here. In fact, I don't recall any bugs of any sort.

Alright, I'm out this year folks. I'll still distribute the contact information - actually, I should probably do that this weekend at some point. Have a good time! :D

All those that are still going please post up so we can get a full account of those willing and able to go. This way we'll know who to be on the lookout for and can change and arrange our campsites to better suit everyone..

IH8RDS it's obvious you're going and we're looking forward to bsing around a campfire with you, but you need to bring your own tick picker.

Going to miss you Chris, but you've got to do what you've got to do. We'll save a ceremonial spot around the fire ring for you and throw down a few escargots in your name.

I only noticed a few skeeters towards evening. Plan on bringing your own bug spray and I'd apply it before any hiking just as a precaution.

Sorry you aren't going to make it this year Chris, It's not going to be the same and you will be missed, but we will all save money on CheezWhiz!

vcsnover, sorry you can't make the whole trip...hope you can get an overnighter out of it.

Okay, to end the suspense for all...it has been decided. We found a grouping of campsites along the Canaan Loop Road. I am listing the coordinates for the first sites and the last sites, but the area in between is also available.

1) N39°05.362' W79°32.659'
2) N39°05.222' W79°32.684'

We are still in! Coordinates are locked and loaded. Just waiting for our launch window. We will probably not be showing up until sometime on Thursday now, but we will be there.

Excellent! Looking forward to running the woods with you folks again! :smiley_drive:

If we're not in camp when you arrive try us on the cell phone or we'll just meet back up in the evening at the campsite.

be there Wednesday evening

We are rolling into camp Wednesday, hopefully before dinner. It all depends on how dropping the oldest off at school goes...

I was hoping this day wouldn't come but since I'm still in cloudless, bugless, Southern California I'll be experiencing this trip vicariously through your trip reports.

So y'all have a great time! May the weather be glorious, the company delightful and the campfire antics truly incendiary. :)

Cheers,
Graham

Still in. I was off the grid for the weekend camping in Virginia Beach with the wife (trailer... lol)

I was looking forward to seeing the infamous jean jacket in person.... maybe next year Chris.

I will be there by Wendnesday afternoon. I will have two of my boys with me. M416 in tow. Save me some room!!

Loaded Up and Ready to Go!

We have Beth and Jim's kids and are taking them down to the Mon with us, so we'll be packed like a can of sardines. Ahhh, family togetherness is six people squeezed into a Dodge Ram quadcab for 5 and a half hours. We'll be arriving Tuesday afternoon to hold the campsite and get things prepped for everybody.

Since you have our kids I guess it would be rude to back out now! We're in, just finishing up last minute details. Work Tuesday; load truck; sleep a bit, then roll...

For anyone left lurking and attending. I just got off the phone with Mark, cell reception is excellent at the campsite. He's there and fixing supper right now. If anyone needs any current campsite info feel free to call him up.
He has marked the sites with white "Expo" flags for easy recognizability.
Also, he is monitoring CB channel 4.

I'm packed and ready. Leaving early in the AM.
