Mortonm's 2001 Xterra Build

Quick update while I have some wifi access.

Trip is going great so far. Zero issues with the Xterra. We spent two days exploring the Allegheny National Forest. Its pretty large so we mostly stayed to the Northern half. Most of it was fire roads but we did manage to find some technical stuff.

Today we are headed southeast towards Bald Eagle State Forest. This is where the most technical driving will take place. We will explore around there until thursday afternoon. We are going to head North towards the Pennsylvania Grand Cayon. Thursday night we are going to get a motel room to catch the NFL opener.

Friday we will explore the canyon area and then head home saturday or sunday. No pictures yet unfortunately you will have to wait for those.

You are going to have to wait a little longer for pictures. We have finished up at Bald eagle state forest and got a motel room tonight in williamsport to wash the dust of and watch some football. The next few days will be more touristy stuff and some hiking, so the offroad portion is done

Bald Eagle was amazing, spend 6 hours each day for 3 consecutive days on trails and dirt roads high up in the hills. I have a butload of pictures but will have to wait until I get home to post.

The Xterra did perform right up to my expectations. No issues with any of the trails. I fell in love with the BFG ATs all over again. More on all this later though when I get back.

Haha I don't think so...he actually has two, an XJ and a JK but I think he appreciates the merits of what my Nissan brings to the tables

Almost 2000 miles this week and not a single issues.

Didn't keep to close track on mpg but 17/18 on high way crusing 12/13 when using low range on the tougher stuff and about 14/15 mixed, can't complain about that

Looks like a hoot! It's always fun to wheel *relatively* stock rigs. Also, I just noticed you have the fogs missing, perfect spot for replacements

indeed they are the perfect spot, one mount is rusted hard in there and I havent tried too much to get it out yet since I dont have a replacement.

Its down to either the same rigid duallys you have, or a set of hella halogen driving lights

Get the D2s, don't waste your money on the Hellas unless they're the 4000s. I speak from experience. Though I'm happy with my IPF 968s, mainly for the looks, but distance (and amperage for sure) wise the D2s will probably beat them. Unless I get the HID kit for them...hmm...but no Usage vs. cost vs. hassle - get the D2s.

So far so good! I love those blue Lista cabinets inside the Zippo workshop.

Sounds like good advice. I think i will just stick with the duallys. I am planning on replacing the metal bumper pieces (front and back) this winter that are rusting bad. It makes sense to do the hidden winch, lights and bumpers all at the same time, will be much easier for wiring and it will already be all apart
