...However, in the rear, under the main cargo box I am going to build a swing down door with my spare parts, like axles, hubs, drive flanges...

Ooh, good call... I have a similar setup in my Trail Trailer, I have found it very useful for storing items I don't need too often. I wish mine were even a bit bigger, there is at least a couple inches ever direction... my next renditon might grow in that respect.

Kurt-

I am going for the same idea but I am building mine from frame rail to frame rail and from the rear bumper to the first crossmember. I should be roughly 38x14" or so.

Thanks!

Pardon me while I display my ignorance, but I'm curious about the extendable tounge. Is that so you can lengthen it on the highway for stability, yet shorten it for trails?

A million years ago my grandfather modified his boat trailer tounge just like you are doing, but he did it so that he wouldn't have to get his truck axle wet when on the boat ramp.

That would be one benifit for sure. But I did it so it will store 3 feet shorter in my garage and only take up a half stall.

Looking great man.......Love the tie-down system! Great idea!

Those tires look pretty close to the frame.....Do they rub?

:)

Thanks William, the tie down system is by highlift and it rocks! Very beefy and well made.

The tires clear with lots of room, these springs have little articulation and even small shackles, so there isn't a need for lots and lots of clearance.

Thanks! :D

Sweet build.

Something we have noted on the tire clearance is that when the tires are deflated and there is a load in the trailer the tires bulge out at the top as well as the bottom.

This is more pronounced with larger tires and the clearance issue may be exaggerated with movement of a live axle. If you do find it t be an issue spacers will alleviate the problem.

Thanks for the tip Martyn! It looks tight from the photo but I have a few inches on each side for movement, I hope they don't rub! :D

THanks.

If you have that much clearance you're fine.

Nicely done!!

Making me rethink the shape of my off-road trailer design. What are the dimensions of this little beauty? Main box width, length, height? Trailer overall width & length? Any details on the water tank that will be mounted up front?
