HuskerJeep! Your work turned out great!
Cool little 1 of trailer that will command attention anywhere you go.
Be proud of this build, Looks awesome and I for one am impressed.

Thank you. :) My first trip to Lake McConaughy can't get here soon enough. Thanks for all the help and suggestions too.

With you rear stabiliers so close to the tailgate don't forget that your tent will be past the balance point of them. You may have to add some beefy braces under the outer corner of the tent for the annex rooms corners and tent support. Looking good! The rear annex will be a smart use of space.

My tent is exactly like my friends in the first post, so the ladder should be the support for the RTT when folded out with most of the weight being directly above the trailer, correct? At least that is what I was told by him, and seeing it in action a few times leads me to believe so. :) If I do have issue with it though, I will just run it out the passenger side like originally planned. Thanks for the compliment and I'm curious to see how the annex looks and works with tent/trailer.

Ever stalk anyone before? I was earlier when I found out the RTT was being delivered earlier then expected!

I've still got painting to do down low which is why I left some cardboard under it just on case. After my boys get done playing in it, I will be putting the cover on it and wrapping it up with a tarp so I can finish painting everything else.

The tent is AWESOME! It is exactly like the Camping Lab tent my friend has in my first post. The ladder took some figuring out but works great too. Tepui Tents was a pleasure to work with even though delivery was delayed, but that had more to do with not going through them directly.

Oh yeah, the trailer is stable as can be when the RTT is open. I'm pretty convince I lucked out when building it on the fly. So far everything like the stabilizer, tongue jack height, and where to step when unfolding the tent works perfect. Doing another one would almost be too easy after doing this one. :sombrero:

Thanks again.

Some updated pictures with the box sitting back on the trailer, the cage being completely painted now, stickers added....

Now that the trailer has the main stuff done, it was time to knock off some of the minor things that are still on the list.

The original plan was to set the floor in on top of the box sides, but that opened a whole other issue with how to finish out the floor where the openings were, so I decided to suck it up and do what needed to be done. That involved grinding some spots on the freshly painted frame, and tacking on the floor after I fitted it a gazillion times to find the openings that needed to be cut out. After getting it prepped for paint again, I decided to use some more of that seem sealer and finish out the edge, let it dry, and then put a couple more good coats of paint on the outer rail and top edge of the floor.

Since my phone decided to completely die, I wasn't able to get any pictures of the bedliner that was sprayed in once the box set back on and bolted down. On that note, two bolts in, the insert for the bolts already fasted on the frame decided to spin which led me to drilling out all of them to prevent further headache. Instead, 3/8 stainless steel bolts were used with ss locknuts to faster the sides down. Since some of them were not real accessible, I had to do this little trick.

Since the sides weren't completely waterproof, I taped off the corners...

and used this stuff which worked out super good...

Once that was done, some wiring was able to be started. Here is how I ran the wire for the taillights and axillary lights.

Because my Speedway Motors battery holder had some tabs sticking out for weld on application...

A poor mans break (aka bench vise) was used to bend the tabs sideways. A couple good hits to the bend got it pretty tight and made it looked like it belonged that way. :p

Finished product.

After it was mounted to the floor, some brainstorming got me to come up with this idea of how to keep the fuse panel dry in case the lid ever did leak.
2012-07-01_23-03-20_659.jpg

Don't worry, the wires are just ran to see if everything works. they will be ran down the sides of the box in the wrap and will be directed to the fuse panel through the rubber grommets that were drilled in the side of the ammo box. The cigarette lighter was also mounted on there too for easy hookup to the battery for the solar panel or a small cooler. Another one will be drilled and mounted for outside access as well so I can have a clamp on fan/heater in the RTT. The other 4 circuits will be for the 3 lights that are switched individually.

Closer to being roadworthy!

I couldn't help but seeing what they would look like outside behind my truck. That reflective tape sure works good too.

A couple other misc things done also. Side to side might not be right on, but up and down should be pretty level.

I added some traction tape on the top side of the tongue for when the RTT needs to be strapped back up.

I have 3 more days to get a couple things done on the trailer, Jeep trailer, and Jeep, so the other stuff like the lid, propane, and plumbing for the air will have to wait until I get back. I'm going to try and double pull it for now, but have been looking at trailers and plan on ordering a 22 footer tomorrow so this trailer can ride up front with the Jeep sitting behind it. Problem is, it's a 4-6 week delivery time for getting exactly what I want. I don't have that kind of patience. :p

Great looking trailer.. I like the (barebones) look. The trailer should pull great behind that big ole truck.
Hope you and family enjoy that thing for many years..

I've been away a while and just caught up - AMAZING! Nice work. I love that you used outside-the-box ideas (no pun intended)
