The little scrappy things are worn cracked or broke.

Those mirrors are OTC units like Grote, Balkamp and similar brands. You can buy individual pieces of the mirror mounts from big rig supply stores, wrecking yards, and mom & pop's if the catalogs still have them. Otherwise, Toyota pick trucks of the same vintage use a nice mirror similar to the OE Montero style.

ok after removing the cross bar from underneath the tranny, I can see the problem areas. I cleaned it up really good and use engine cleaner down there. First things first, the bolts for the tranny pan were very loose. most specifically on the shallow end. I could if needed loosen with my fingers. Im not sure what the specs are but I tighten them down a bit only to see tranny fluid seep out with each turn. I didn't tighten it down alot, and well under 10lbs/ft which im sure will hold till i find a gasket and im not driving it till it comes in. Also the speedo gear looks to be leaking. explains why I thought it was gear oil. The transfer case seals seem to be fine so i'll hold on to the dealer bought ones as I'm sure i'll need them eventually. Any suggestions on gaskets? dealer only? Looks like the pan one is a gasket, and perhaps the speedo uses an oil seal? thanks in advance.

Well it's been a minute. Still leaking but plan on having that fixed real soon. In the mean time I finally got a rack. Used the yakima 1a towers with some coated gas pipe from lowes. Way cheaper than yakimas 80$ 58 bars and I had them cut to size. 54". The coated pipe is the exact fit. It's scotch coat I think it something. I'll get furniture rubbers for the ends to clean it up.

Still need the yakima riser blocks but this will do for the time being till some pop up on the bay. I'm leaving the pipes brown as I like the contrast.

Today I took the monty to the local aamco. They have a good rep on google etc. So I said Fuggit. Comes with warranty too. So they are going to replace the pan, shift shaft seal and hoses. Comes out to 550$ bones. This is with all factory part too. I feel like its reasonable considering the headaches I've had w this truck.

I also have a bad axle. The passenger side front. If anyone's got one they want to sell ... PM me. I'm still a couple weeks out. Due to the parts being ordered dealer direct. If everything is kosher I'll be looking for fender flares and front bumper \ brush gaurd \ sliders You can count me in at the next meet. That's for sure.

Went to the pull apart and grabbed a few things. Non bent grab bar, Smaller Mirrors. The mirrors will have to be drilled and mounted as mine are much different. Bummer and pain in the *** but hopefully they look the part and don't make noise as mine do now.

Pretty nice.

Also there is a gen 1 for sale locally really cheap. It runs but has a leak. It has a snorkel and the alloys. If someone is looking for parts or want to go in on it I would be willing as I would like a few things off it

Got the truck back it's been doing pretty good. Seems to stutter here and there when in 3rd gear I believe. It's always done this so no worse than before I guess. Took it out and about this weekend.

Having them replace those seals are ok. I wouldn't let them work on rebuilding the transmission though. I made that mistake with my old Toyota Supra. The transmission NEVER ran right again even after they tried over half a dozen times to get it right! And trust me when I say that Lifetime warranty is only effective if they can get it right in the first place. if they can't then that warranty does nobody any good.
