Pics of your Bikes and Rides

Cabrito

I come in Peace
Just got home from SonyBARF 17 from the Bay Area Riders Forum gathering in Stonyford. Two days of super fun dual sport riding.. Most folks are on dirt bikes riding single track, but Mendocino has so much to offer for everyone.

Goat Mountain

Working our way up to Summit Springs Trailhead. After we cleared one downed tree with our Silky Saw's we had to start going around them.

At the Bear Creek water crossing.

Long weekend up here and it was hovering around 77 all three days.
Took advantage of the nie weather and got a few rides in.

Nice, I did the same! Figured it was the last nice weekend. Hit 80f here. Although, all I did for a selfie was a bad job of riding past one of the security cameras haha! Still Loving the Strom?

Recorded it with the Suunto App on my phone.

So far so good. It's due for it's 1st service now.
There's a few features I'd like that would be tough / expensive to add. (Cruise - not throttle lock being the biggest one)
If money were no object, I could see a Tiger 900 or GS900 in my future....

I'll have to check out that app. I downloaded the Scenic app but if you want to record your ride and use turn by turn navigation you have to have a premium membership.

The Suunto app, does not do turn by turn. Its just my workout/hiking/sleep etc tracking app, that syncs with my watch. I do really like my Suunto watch, it’s a smart ABC watch. It just has an option for “motorsports” when selecting an activity profile to record. If I had done It with the watch is would have also recorded HR; but I find my wrist movement can toggle buttons when I, riding. So just recorded from the phone app for kicks and giggles.

For turn by turn, I just use google maps and the Bluetooth in my helmet. With a Ram mount, or slid inside the map pocket on my tank bag. But it can get hot in there. And have BCN for trails. S its the same reguardless of what I am driving, riding, or doing.

A couple of the larger motos I have ridden, like the BMW 1200, KM, etc had electronic cruise. I did not like it. I have friction based one on mine and really like it. You set the tension when yu fist install it, then it just rolls forward and “locks” the throttle. And it easily and quickly let’s go when you roll it off. No reaching for a switch. I was a little leery at first, but its worked well. And does not actually lock anything.

Its also budget friendly, if you dont like it. You just have to set it right. If you are having to adjust tension when riding, you messed something up;

Ditto, i would go tiger. But am really happy with the strom. I dont like all the extra crap for the air filter change, but thats about it. As far as a delta.

Father in law has an Atlas throttle lock on his Boulevard. Seems pretty easy peasy to use. So I'd probably go with that for a throttle lock.

I'm using google maps too. Just have the phone on a cheapy Amazon mount on the handle bars. I might look at a quad lock for next season. This mount I have is bulky and the best place I could find to mount it was on the mirror arm. But that causes the wind to catch it and pushes my mirror inward...

I have an AdventureTech foot peg lowering kit and shifter extension to install yet and want to figure something out for the windshield buffeting. How do you find yours? I've read the buffeting issue has been around on these things for a while.

I have had great luck with the Ram Phone mounts. The X grip, survived through SA. And I now have the ram mount quick grip. Beefy, and not cheap. But works well. I can grab Pics from mine if you want.
Yes please!

This is the one I went with. Mostly cause it had so many good reviews. But the base is bulky and the way you have to tighten it makes it difficult to mount in some spots.

This is the RAM mount I am using. It was an X grip, but I had to switch to this when my phone changed. I have never had a RAM Product let me down. I do have a safety strap around the mount, just to be sure.

If I was going to be doing really rough riding, I may out my phone in a pocket or tank bag. This mount also has little hooks I can put on the side if I so choose. When riding for adventure medics, I would usually put it in a pocket and bring the maps out when I needed to check routes. As with the technical rescue riding, you’re not focusing on the map anyway.
