This was the first landie I had, a Series 3 Lightweight with a 2.25 petrol engine. 1972 built but on a 1980 plate when it was demobbed.

The numberplate fell off, honest... :D

It had a few engine changes. You could say it was a learning experience owning a landie. 3 engines in 5 years

We all make mistakes... Although perhaps having to be winched out backwards downhill by the Rangie....

Then I went to Billing one year, and I put the Defender 90 on the '50th Anniversary Landrover' stand....

A holder for my then GPS, a Garmin Streetpilot III. Still in the vehicle for it's current user, the original owner who loaned me the landie ;)

I should have done it sooner as after having parked back on the stand more people gravitated towards it now there was a muddy vehicle there! I don't think the club management people were amused by their frowns, but there were a few there that did accept that a 4x4 has to go offroad ;)

Back home after an hour on the road, and yes, the mud was hardened and baked on!!!

And finally, a few years previously this landie was loaned for me for a laning trip in Wales. 109 S3 with a straight six petrol engine.

Is it just me, or is there a phantom pair of legs in this photo? Near the left, front side of the rig?

Nope... Them be leg's. Also there is a floating torso in the bottom right...

You are both right. It was a HDR merge to get those nice looking images on the bridge and some had the lass in there and some didn't. At the time I didn't own it, a friend owned it but they were such nice photos ;)

Our pristine 2004 DII got rear ended this week.
Doesn't look too bad but the frame cracked in 3 places so it's totaled.
Bummer. We loved our Disco.

how fast was the impact on your D2
Speed limit is 45mph but the other driver skidded for a bit before impact. My wife was driving. I showed up 10 minutes after the accident. The Jeep Cherokee that hit her sustained substantial damage. Thankfully, everyone was OK.
