I highly recommend you change out those wing nuts on the batteries, one washer board road and those will come off

Hey Nick,

I read your deavers install. I noticed your e brake cable is above the leaf pack, while my is under the leaf pack.

Working on my dual battery set up now, it will be good to compare the two when done. Nice looking Taco.

I believe newer tacos are wired like that.....I like yours better....Mine is barely off the leaf....

Tablets are getting cheaper....I have been kicking this rock down the road for years.....I wanted a laptop but too big and my wife would hate it over time in her lap.....

I'm a apple guy...BUT...after some research found a better alt. to the ipad...The Samsung Galaxy 2 7". (reason - Cost!)

So....Here we go.....

Tablet GPS:

Unit - $189 (costco Samsung 7" tablet - Built in GPS)

http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxytab2/7.0/index.html?type=find

32gb card - $30 (extra memory - Useless without)(Waiting for the ExFed man to bring..)

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...dqui_032g_a11_32GB_microSDHC_Memory_Card.html

Mount - $100 (proclip)(have not pulled the trigger on this yet...soon)

http://www.proclipusa.com/brodit-ve...5-2004/proclip-center-mount-852253-13283.aspx http://www.proclipusa.com/brodit-de...00)/holder-with-tilt-swivel-511381-18977.aspx

Back country Navigator - $10

See Google play app. store

Total - $329

Not bad for a 7" GPS.....Plus i can watch movies too.....(not while driving of course....Or maybe....)

Waiting for the mount to fully test this thing. The only bad thing is that it doesn't like apple products....which is all i own....but i keep my phone in the truck to play music etc....

;)

Are you still running the Budbuilt traction bar? I have heard comments that the bolt on set up will crack the diff. or break the studs and end up leaking.

No problems and not needed.

Yet. Keep an eye on it, I started getting some minor cracks after several years of hard use and the weight of the dual batteries. Somewhat common dual battery issue that pops up over time on the 1st gen. I thought I was in the clear but after 5-6k off off-road miles the lower fender skirt was starting to fatigue.

Welcome Back Kurt!

What did you do to fix the problem? Pictures? This is the first of have heard of any issues with the mod....It is a ton of weight in that one section....

It has been a great traction bar with no issues. (knock on wood) BTW...Where did you here about the problem?

I prefer the earlier design as it's less likely to get snagged while off road.
Yes... I've seen that occur

I read a thread somewhere, where someone made extensions to the upper portion of the lever(s) at the hubs.
and this raised the cable higher, allowing clearance for a 10 lf cust. spring pak.

I have cust. deaver 9lf paks... and it clears... just barely.
I did bend the guides upward just a hair and that helped for a quick fix.
Probably increase wear of the nylon inserts... but that's life

* for those with the lower e cable assembly...
I believe the axle's backing plates can be rotated to bring the cable back to the top...
tho' I don't know what else needs be done concerning the cable mounts on the axle housing.

Thanks, it is nice being home for a minute. Head back out Tuesday for the Cruise Moab event :D

I build a reinforcement plate that did ties the inner fender into the front cowl better then the stock setup which consists of spot welds. The spot welds were tearing out.
