Man Discussion

Just need a quick question answered...

Does the TRD Sport Package on the Tacoma make the truck any faster? I'm being told that the stiffer suspension helps with the 0-60 times? I don't buy that.

Also, is the Nissan Frontier quicker to 60 than the Toyota Tacoma? All things equal; year, cab, bed, etc.
-considering the Nissan makes more hp/torque and weighs about the same.

This is an argument between men, and need to resolve it.

Cheers

Actually the Nissan is heavier than the Tacoma. And no the sport package doesnt make it faster. Its a fake hood scoop man. Also TRD Off Road is your best bet as it comes with a locker and the sport does not. All the TRD has is better shcoks...

I must admit, the Tacoma is quick. Very quick. faster than the nissan

This is an amusing thread for ExPo, but...

If I were a betting man, my money would be on the Nissan.

Just did a search of some popular car magazine tests and I'm finding: 7.7 seconds for the Tacoma and 7.4 for the Frontier... Both 2012's.

Don't be snarky...just because acceleration isn't in your Taco's vocabulary doesn't mean others can't enjoy the benefits of horsepower and torque.

Nuh-uh! It's all relative; remember - S = D / T. Speed and distance are both variable, and hence time is too. I got lots of time -- therefore I've already been to where you want to go. Pretty heavy, huh. Besides, the Tacoma accelerates just fine. It's spelled a... c... c... e... l... e... r... a... t... e...

But, wait till I get that LS1 5.3L engine, 4L60-E transmission, and Atlas T-case installed. I'll then be able to travel to where you want to be, yesterday, if on an odd-dated Thursday, based on the reciprocal property of three. See - easy-peasy.

Really! I am a big sissy. Say that again and I'll give you such a slap with my purse.

My knees grind just ascending and descending stairs. Constant shifting and pedal stomping -- I'd rather be water-boarded. At my age I'd rather wheel and not schedule knee replacement surgery and PT appointments.

Watching anyone with a MT and without a crawl box continuously stall on the rocks is an exercise in frustration. My AT has been completely reliable in that environment. Used to have manual's but after years of commuting in urban areas (SF Bay Area, Wash DC) in rush hour traffic I've come to the conclusion that a manual transmission is just plain stupid.

Row to your hearts content Kermit.
