Oh ok. How did arrrrrnold import the new Unimog? I know it was a new body on an older chassis.
I believe that he wrote a not-insignificant check to have it federalized (i.e. brought to DOT specs)

DHS knocked on my door @ 9am looking for our '84 110. Luckily, I hauled it out of state, just last weekend to be used elsewhere, on a now undisclosed location. They asked us for the address of the location we took it to. We told them we didn't know the address. Which we didn't. It was a piece of property that the family recently purchased. Odd that they didn't even ask to look in our garage. They left us their business cards and asked us to call when we had the address. The oil stains, from it marking it's territory were fresh.
After they left, empty handed, I spoke with my Wife's Aunt who is an attorney. She looked into the situation and she found that DHS was also seizing imported G Wagons. One of the lawyers, who owns a G, where she works with was affected. She also advised us to not answer any further questions from DHS, but to have those questions directed toward our legal counsel, aka Her. So, for now it's hunkered down under lock and key and we will see where this goes from here. There were no further attempts to contact us from DHS, so far today. I think they know their opportunity to collect the "easy" ones is done and gone. Maybe they will be deterred to pursue any other 110's.
Do you really think they are going to let this go that easily?
They didn't even ask to look in my garage, which was 20' away from where they were standing. Why would they put in the time and effort now, with me after I'm lawyered-up? The others, I cant speak for. I do feel really bad for them. I couldn't imagine the way I would feel if I was to ever sell the 110, let alone have it taken!
Too late...I think he already has publicly said enough to incriminate himself...wow, amazing how people seem to think that the internet is an anonymous place and people will readily admit that they committed multiple crimes without any fear of repercussions, even with "legal counsel". Right or wrong, guilty or innocent, I doubt any lawyer would advise a client to bloviate on the internet about their transgressions. 8lug, let us know how that works out for you.Just make sure you do not post anything incriminating on here, especially with hints as to who owns the property it is on.

I haven't said anything DHS doesn't already know. Three men at my door with fully functioning ears, I'd presume, and a pad and paper. I highly doubt I'll hear from them again. If they really wanted it, they wouldn't have drove off, four minutes after knocking on my door.
Right up until you try and register it...

Best of luck. A 1984 110 should be ok, you will just need to demonstrate documentation and other proof of legal import. This is a tough situation, I have several friends with questionable vehicles.
