Light weight rock crawler trailer

That's a caster that I welded to the bottom of a standard trailer jack. I purchased them at Harbor Freight. The wheel on the caster bent under normal use, so I'm certain that NWoods' recommendation is a better alternative.

Where did you source the pneumatic tire for the jack wheel?

You can get them at IMS (Industrial Metal Supply) in Irvine, or many different online shops, like E-trailers.com

Thanks, I've seen the ones on e-trailers and the like but they didn't look very robust to me. I'll check out IMS. Sorry to hear the welded on caster didn't work. The search continues.

What a great trailer, nice work. Could you tell me what make "quick connects" did you use on the hot water heater?

selling out already ? nice build btw.
I really like the sharing of your off road video (H.O.T.)
I've pulled muh m100 thru some similar stuff.
Planned on dragging it thru rubicon one of these days.
Was supposed be last year... but a health crisis put that down.

A couple things I observed with yours...
maybe you can clarify or denounce muh inquiry.

On page three it shows the trailer mounted to the bumper.
and when looking at that... it looks like the trailer does not turn to a full 90* angle.
It looked as if the drawbar "A" frames are too wide... what's yer take ?

In one of the off road videos it looks like the spare tire on your Jeep would
limit the trailer's tongue movement engaging a steep incline/decent.
Did the trailer tongue hit the spare tire during yer off road travels ?
or were the angles mild enough that this didn't occur ?

What's this trailer weigh fully loaded ?

like yer fabrication skillz... and wish you good luck if selling :)

Yes, thinking about selling. I've got some ideas about a trailer with an integrated tent (wildernest style). Hesitant though, as it's hard to envision time to build another...

You're correct that it won't turn 90. Never been any concern though. In all the wheelin that I've done with it, I've never needed anywhere close to 90.

I too thought that the spare may cause a problem. It does not. The hitch sticks out far enough that the trailer will not hit the spare.

I'm not sure on the weight. I know the heaviest trip was a 1,600 miler. For the drive up the trailer was fully loaded with firewood, 25 gallons of water and 10 gallons of gas. A WAG is 1,500 to 2,000 lbs.

I know this is an older thread, But I see you changed out the water flow control, for what looks like a hot cold and shower head unit.
do you remember the source?
Also you mentioned that the heater requires so much flow to operate. So do you have to open the valves all the way open. meaning no flow control.

The reason I ask, I would like to use the unit for both dishes(low flow) and shower(high flow).
will this set up work?
Thanks

I just changed out my water heater, last month. The camp chef stopped working. I'm not faulting it. The trailer gets put through some pretty rough stuff and to say I wore it out, would be fair. The new one is from ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/151297201788

I haven't had a chance to use it much, so I can't speak to performance.

You do not have to open the valves all the way, for the water heater to work. I do dishes in a small folding sink. Put soap and water in there, wash then rinse after they have all been scrubbed. The flow levels are fine for both dishes and shower.
