A bit of a sad news update,

Many of you may remember my time spent in Alaska, a good bit of that was in Egegik, working as the sole medical provider and safety dude for a cannery. This was in 2019, and 2020.

I recently learned the facility, is not being ran this season, and has only a few folks there for fisherman support, with plans to dismantle it later in the year. The facility was built sometime around 1920, so it had been running a long time. The world continues to change.

You will be missed, and even though some hard times were had there, the majority of memories are fond.

Howdy yall,

I have been quiet on here as of late. However, I have an update. I closed on a house last Thursday. Pretty excited just shy of 5 acres, pasture, house, shops, and the works.

I included a very rough overlay of the sprinkler zone map. But it gives you a good idea. I have spent much of my life full timing in a 5er and waiting for the right opportunity, and this was it.

I am stoked for all the covered storage and shop. The solid set sprinklers in the yard make it a bit of a maze to get into the shop, but its doable.

Congratulations! What part of the country are you moving to?

It's not just you being quiet here as of late. It's been quiet on Expo for a long while now.

Yeah congratulations. Are the sprinklers above grade? Is that what solid set means?

Yeah it has been like crickets around here for the guys I usually converse with. Maybe we are all just in the background reading and not posting?

Well it is summer, so hopefully everyone is traveling or out with the family. Im sure it will pick up again when schools start and fall sets in with cooler weather.

I am still in Eastern Oregon, the dry side. Ranches and Rodeos, more cows than people kind of place. A few miles from the Columbia river, and a few hours from Portland or Seattle.

That's true, it does seem to have a lot less.......+ interactive traffic. Or something like that.

The yard and pasture are all irrigated from a dirt canal system, that is fed from a earthen dam reservoir. So the water has a fair bit of dirt/sand and things like fish guts in it. And the yard sprinklers are at the end of the pasture sprinklers. So all the uprights are above ground. None of the pop-up sprinklers that are used in clean water environments.

This is good though, as it means I am not watering out of my domestic well. And bulk water through the irrigation district for my acreage is only a few hundred a year. And then just the electricity for the pump.

you can kind of see the " solid set" sprinklers in the photos

I hope we are still around, and reading. Or prepping for the next trips maybe...even if that just means adding spots to our maps for future trips...

It very well may, for most of my trips, I did not post until I returned and or was back in the office.

Yes same here, I post occasionally while we are out, but for the most part its not till we get back and have been home a bit. I'm only here posting because instead of our big trip we had planned for July to NM/Col, we all ended up with Covid. Its run through our house like mad, all of us except the wife have had it twice since July 6th. I cannot remember us getting it this bad since the beginning. But it definitely killed all plans, its been brutal.
