OBI Dweller Review and Discussion

I just returned from a 2K mile trip this summer and had to replace two of those Triangle Tires. The first one I noticed at the campsite that the tread was starting to separate. That tire had less than 10K miles on it. I replaced with a spare that came with the trailer. That tire blew on the way home with less than 800 miles on it. Again, it looks like the tread separated on it.

If any of you are still on those triangle tires, I'm suggesting you replace them. They don't seem to be good quality tires.

For the tire that blew, the rim is still in decent shape – a little scuffed but still OK.

Does anyone happen to know the manufacturer and model of the rims on the D15? I had a blown tire on my trip last week and the rim got pretty ground up. I'd like to replace with the same but the only number I could find on the old one didn't get any hits online.

My tires are Triangle GripX MT TR281 (LT265/75R16)

Absolutely get rid of the factory tires.

I went with LT AT4's in the same size.

I thought I would post about what I consider to be an upgrade being that I did not like the McHitch and found it to be a pita every time I unhooked. Several months ago I purchased an AL-KO 3500KG Off-road Ball Coupling from Australia and have since installed. We took the camper out this past weekend for a 400 mile jaunt over Monarch pass and beyond, then back home. She pulled straight and true with zero issues and the biggest bonus is that it is so much easier to unhook!

I noticed this past week that my Dweller13 is sitting an 1 1/4" higher on the drivers side. I saw something posted way back when but didn't see if anyone has solved the issue. I measured the coil spring on both sides and it seems that the passenger side spring is 5/8" shorter. Wondering if anyone has discovered this also and if they've attempted to fix it?

Been an issue noted for a few folks.

In your case I would be tempted to swap the shorter spring to the tall side.

Then check how you are loaded. Were are your batteries? Are you heavy loaded on the driver side? how's the cargo in the box exc.

Dumb Q are you on level ground when you notice this? Are you sure it's level LOL some times it's optical due to a crown in the road and or your tow rig is the unlevel thing.

I'll try swapping springs side to side and see if that helps, that is a good idea. Thanks

My Dweller 15 has a 2 inch lean on door side. I just removed the 3 orig lead batteries that were positioned on door side basically between tire and pullout oven. Two are close to stove & one close to tire. All 3 batteries weigh 190 lbs. No change in the lean. Same 2 inch lean. Just an FYI on this matter. This is puzzling.

JJust to make sure I don't mess up. Should I plug in shore power with new batteries not connected. Reprogram Inverter & solar contol. Then turn shore power off, connect batteries. Then turn on inverter?

instruction's all day never to start system with out the batterie. Now I may have had everything plugged in and the trailer in the sun when I did my install and no I didn’t burn anything down… but.. I did get a high voltage alarm 😫 that’s when I read the instruction.

so I would turn the inverter off, disconnect the batteries, keep your rig undercover so you don’t get any charge from the panels, install the batteries hook everything back up. Then turn the system on and program.

The only thing the program is gonna do is change the max volt charge to whatever you sent it to or the default 14.6?

I forget what it’s called. You need to read the charger instructions. There’s also a point where it starts charging the lithium default is incredibly low like 12.2 or something? That didn’t make any sense to me as if my trailer was parked. I brought it home to charge everything up. I could very well leave the house and have basically a dead battery at 12.3 or 12.4 V. So I increased that default start charge as well for when I’m plugged in.

In the day or two, it takes you to figure out all the settings you’re not gonna hurt anything.

Remember, you have to reprogram the solar charger also. It was like six weeks before I realized why my battery wasn’t charging past 13.4 I think. That’s where the solar charger cut off for AMG batteries. So I reprogrammed it and now I get fabulous charging up to 14.4 what I set mine too I think? Whatever the battery manufacturer set for the max.
