Iglhaut-converted 4x4 Sprinter seeing the sites

On the Sprinter Source forum, a gentleman posted a lot of nice pictures of his short-wheelbase Sprinter in various exotic locations, such as:

Since we don't have practical access to 4x4 Sprinters in the US and Canada, they don't have much of a reputation as overlanding vehicles. But if you look at the thread and the terrain being handled, I think you can see how a converted Sprinter would make be a fine selection.

Igelhaut has been around for years converting Mercedes vans and has a very good reputation in Europe. About like Quigley here in the US.

I've had a not-so-secret crush on the Iglehaut 4x4 Sprinty's. I was hoping that they would be available stateside by the time I wore thru the AstroLander, I guess we'll see.

May have to hook the lap top up to the plasma bigscreen, log in to that site, put some pop corn on, and settle in.:lurk:

One of the things that allowed the Sprinter to be such a success initially, my German colleague tells me, is that MB exploited a niche in the German road rules for trucks, and created a vehicle with an allowable maximum speed a lot greater than it's (original) competition. A higher road speed coupled with space-efficient design let it become a great success in the home market. It's been copied by others, e.g. the VW Crafter (http://www.volkswagen-vans.co.uk/crafter/).

Great photos. There's a lot to like about the Sprinter, and even more to like about this SWB 4X4 version. What a great platform for a world tour it would make.
