Tiger (GT and XL) Hunting

For those hunting for a Tiger, my search engine turn up one near Denver this morning. 1992 Astro, with 2000 GMC Safari sheet metal swapped on the front (a somewhat common conversion).

Tiger Provan XL Class B motor home - $9500 (Loveland)
For Sale. I am selling my 1992* Tiger Provan XL class B motor home. 2WD V6 Automatic.
It is fully self contained with a gas 3 burner stove, microwave, double sink, gas stove,
3 way refrigerator, Dual AC, a separate bath room with shower. It comes with a 19 inch
Plasma TV with DVD player with a powered antenna, a GPS navigation system, and a
back up camera with 4 inch color display. It gets around 15mpg. It has just over 135K miles.
I don't care much for the look of the original Astro Van front end, so I replaced mine with
2000 GMC Safari body panels. It's now the one and only GMC Safari Tiger. Gives it a nice look!
The GMC seats are more comfortable too and give the cabin more leg room.
I have the original seats (great shape) and will include them with the sale. Interior color is Tan.
I have had the rear suspension completely re-done to properly handle the weight of the
camper. It has heavy duty custom leaf springs and air shocks. The stock suspension was inadequate.
The exhaust system has been upgraded to a larger diameter than stock. Transmission has been updated.
Brakes and tires are excellent. Tires were recently replaced to achieve the proper load rating.
It has both dash and roof AC. and a Gas furnace and water heater. I recently replaced the carpet
throughout . It has a receiver hitch and rear mounted trunk and spare. I took these pictures last summer
and will take another round of shots showing the inside sometime this week. The little pictures at the bottom
show the camper before I modified it. If you are interested, send me your phone number and I will call you.
I would not hesitate to take it anywhere. In 2010 I took (2) 4000 mile trips with no problems.
For those that don't know the Tigers, they fit into a standard parking space. It is as easy to drive as a car.
It has been parked outside and the decals show weathering but overall condition is very good.
I won't respond by email due to all the scam responses. Pics show before and after upgrade.

1988 Provan Tiger GT built on a Chevy Astro Van chassis

*THIS IS A PROJECT* If you're not mechanically inclined you should probably turn back now.

Ok, if that didn't scare you read on. What you're looking at is a 1988 Provan Tiger GT built on a Chevy Astro Van chassis with a 4.3 liter V6. These were professionally built by a company called Provan that was based in Colorado. They built these until the Astro was discontinued in 2005.

The Tiger is only 17 feet long and features a pop-top similar to the VW Westfalia that provides room to standup, bed space over the cab, and it will fit in a standard garage. It is fully self sufficient and includes a 12 volt inverter, three burner stove, furnace, water heater, 3-way fridge (12v, 110v, or propane), fresh water tank, grey tank, black tank, couch area, and a tiny bathroom with a toilet and shower! Yes, I know, it's hard to believe but there's a bathroom in there. The front seats also swivel to face the rear. It's pretty roomy when it's all set up.

It'll start but the engine needs work. I drove it 1200 miles from Minnesota and it ran great for half the trip but started acting up. Pretty sure it's got a blown head gasket and it's only running on 5 cylinders. Also, the top and interior need work. There is some water damage in the bed area over the cab, the cabinetry is beat up, and some of the motor home features need repair (ie furnace and water heater). How big a project this is will depend on how you plan to use it. If you're a bachelor dude, a hunter, or a band just repair the engine (or swap in a V8!), patch up a few things, and go. If you plan to travel the country with your wife (like me), it's a big restoration project. Please serious inquiries only. Include your phone number in your email or I'll assume it's spam and delete it. Thanks

Excellent! How is the coach/interior? Sounds like an engine swap is in order, there are a few astro guys on this site that may be able to help. A V8? Zoom.

Welcome to Expo and keep us posted. You maybe noticed how we like pictures around here :)

Awesome, can't wait to see what you do with it.

I've owned 7 Astros so far ranging 1986-2000 and will help anyway I can.

I already emailed him.

Maybe we should rethink the effectiveness of a thread like this.:bigbossHL:
