sorry i have been at SEMA for the past week. the 4.3, 700r,np205 worked just fine the rear drive shaft on mine with toyota mini truck axles and 4" mini truck lift springs is 22". i pushed my motor as far forward as i could this put a gap of about 8 inches from the the back of the heads to the fire wall. everything so far on it has been great but i did have to notch the frame a 1/2 in on the passenger side to alow the side of 205 to fit but i welded another plate on the outside of the frame as well as the re boxing the inside of the frame. I just cant wait to get this thing done and get to start driving it. The ground up on my rover has been about 5 years and 45 grand so far and still not done. But she will be nice when she is done.

Looking forward to seeing some pics when you have them. Don't feel bad about that 45k- I spent a lot more than that to have Lanny Clark restore my Series II. Mine is much nicer than anything that ever came off Solihull's line but it's completely stock with 1940's technology (underpowered by today's standards, drum brakes, etc). In the end you'll have a cool, unique ride with a "modern" drivetrain that you'll be excited to drive. If I had it to do again, your approach is the one I'd take. Keep us posted!

looks good but why would you turn the shackles around like that? its kinda going the wrong way. The reverse shackle is a much better design and will give much better drivability.

yeh that is one thing i am not very happy i did, if it has a bad amount of bump steer i plan on yarding out the leaf springs and going to coilovers. I built the shock towers stong enough to do that from the get go so i could do the upgrade at some point no matter what.

Just from looking at the pictures it is easy to see the high quality of craftsmanship on this rover. It seems obvious that roversam has thought about the pros and cons of shackle reverse and planned his set up correctly. From what little I know about these things it is really a matter of how the geometry is engineered.

Beautiful rover! That rover doesn't just 'look good', it looks great!

Great idea about the coilovers and the system you are running now will defiantly create bumpsteer. The rover looks good nice to be able to replace or rebuild every part. I'm building a 109 now and am using rear springs on the front for better ride with custom 2-3" springs under the axle. Keep up the good work.

Never said anything about the quality of his work, but his last post says it all.

I have road in many squar headlight jeeps that never had bump stear so we will see i have a few other tricks under my hat to help with it if it happens but i will be latter changing it i am sure. but for now it will due. the outlay of 1500 for two front coil overs was not in the budget at the time i was doing that. but there is always room for inprovment. I will post up some more recent photos these are very old so when i get time i will take some more and get them posted.
