Quadra Drive II in Current Jeeps

Hmmm. That criticism might hold water if the Jk in the video had not towed a trailer clear across the western US for a straight month of overlanding. Or if I had not pointed out multiple times that QD is better for the vast majority of applications. And said that I wish my Ranger had a similar...

Quadra Drive II in Current Jeeps

I understand that you're a fan of the system - and for good reason. In my current 5th gen ranger I'd actually prefer that sort of system to the manually selectable rear locker that I have in there. It's a far better choice for the type of driving that I end up doing in that Ranger. I took a look...

    (Another) slow Ranger build

First update with pics! I have been tackling some rather ugly health challenges this year, so it's very much slowed down my build - to the point that I went months without even installing a modification that I had already picked up (that's unheard of for me!) First item that I eventually got...

    2019 Ranger 5G Crew Cab

I did not get an FX4 version either - but I did luck out and end up with an e-locker in the rear differential. I know from my Jeep experience that if I end up in a situation with this truck where one locker isn't enough, I'm going to end up winching anyways.

Another update with no pics - I've also ordered an OVS Nomadic 270 Awning - I very much want to have covered space starting at the tailgate, and this was the best of the solutions that I found. When I saw it on sale, I jumped on it.

    (Another) slow Ranger build

Update (with no pictures) - I ordered the a Leer topper. Based on dealer reviews and shopping around I selected a local shop, and the price they quoted me for a Leer was up to $1000 less than an ARE with the same features. I'm getting a cab height topper with a front slider, driver's side...

Guana Equipment Morpho 270* Awning - the $350.00 dollar awning review

Excellent review - I am comparison shopping 270 degree awnings, and your comparison of the design points and relative quality is very helpful. I'll be putting the awning on a Ranger with an extended cab and a 6' box, so it's also helpful that your truck is almost the same configuration.

    (Another) slow Ranger build

After a whole lot of window shopping, research, and otherwise fun procrastination involving compact trucks, I finally jumped at an opportunity for a great deal on a 2019 Ranger at the end of February. It will be doing duty as my daily driver, sometimes towing a light camping trailer, hauling...

    Need Help With Set Up/Needs

It sounds like a HAM would do most of what you want. If you want to scan channels in the 800mhz range, then you will want a dual-band UHF/VHF rig. This will also allow you to use local repeaters, giving you far better coverage than a CB. HAM radios will not generally be able to communicate...

    HAM in Canada

This is VERY true. I recently got my HAM license, and even after just one wheeling trip with my new dual band rig I am feeling that my (perfectly serviceable) CB setup is about as useful as two tin cans connected by a chunk of fishing line. To the OP...I can't speak for the TO area wheeling...

    iPod Integration

If you have a head unit that will accept input from a CD changer (common on that vintage of vehicle) then you could use one of the older vintage H&K drive & play units. They have a monochrome backlit LCD screen, but otherwise are a lot like the unit that Green Ganesha posted a pic of. I have one...

Begining the HAM Radio research. Assitance is welcom

I have an FT8800, and am very happy with it so far. I particularily like the ability to scan a group of preset frequencies while continuously monitoring a local simplex channel or a specific repeater. So far, the 50W that it offers paired with a relatively high gain antenna (the Comet...

    D44 time bomb?

This is good news. Yup. You've said that you've already sleeved, trussed, and gusseted the front axle and are planning on cro-mo shafts front and rear. The only other thing that might be reasonable to consider would be trussing the rear...but that's very much a "nice to do" item. I would be...

    JK armor and suspension?

He may already have sliders - the Rubicon option package included a set of factory "rock rails" that are actually reasonably stout. I know that I've certainly used rocks to gouge mine pretty well and they've stood up. If he has the Rubicon package, it will also have a reasonable set of recovery...
