I believe the spring set up is the same as the early jeep CJ5. Surplus city Oroville, Ca may have springs. Mayne

    skinning a lid

I googled the VHB tape, and like the idea over riveting aluminum to steel. Although I can't figure out which type should be used. Foam core? Mayne

Why do folks say, "Jeeps aren't expedition vehicles?"

WOW those tires are takin a bite out of your mileage. I get get 200 to 240 with 31's and 3.73's This is with a roof rack with lights. As far as camping and range goes, I solve that issue by adding a trailer (M416) and in the comfort dept heated seats. I'm as comfortable or more so in my Jeep...

Expedition wrangler lift question (OME lift)

Genrite has some nice fenders as well, but I believe they have to be welded on. The bene there is that you can keep the stock air box if you want to run a snorkel in the future. Not cheap though. Mayne

    Treadwrights and rain

No kedge grip in mine. I didn't see the need to as I don't incur snow and ice where I live. After spending some time in the rain with them, I may just leave well enough alone, as I have not felt un confident whilst driving in less than perfect conditions. In short, they've yet to slip on me. Mayne

    Has anyone done this?

I've seen this done with fifth wheels and a boat, but it required a class A commercial license for double trailer. Mayne

    Tire Carrier Hinges - again

As far as bronze and other bushings, McMaster Carr also carries a WIDE selection at reasonable prices. You'll have to spec out the matterial, and it takes some time, but it's worth it. I built a swing out on a 1750lb spindle, and I'm redoing it in favor of a double shear. I just never felt good...

    Gordigear Rooftop Tent

I've talked with them via email, and they are most willing to answer any questions you may have. After customs and shipping, you are looking closer to $25 to $2800. So as far as that goes, Camping Lab and Eazy Awn are still competetive in price. If your willing to deal with customs...

Stock Gas Tank to Water Tank?

Please explain? Only ask because the outback fuel pump I have runs on air. It's all brass fittings, so no spark, but this is the first I've heard of this. I don't care to be a roman candle. Mayne

    Treadwrights and rain

Well I bought a set of Guard dogs from Treadwright, and spent all of Monday driving down the highway in the rain. I'm pleased. They are louder than the cooper ST's that I wore out, but I can deal with that. With some center lug siping, they should be as sure footed as the ST's. We'll see how...

    Tent trailer question

I don't see why not. I tend to go to extremes when I build something, so take this with a grain of salt. I would fab up a frame, and bolt/weld the old frame to it, and thus build an off road trailer underneath it. Depending on how wide it is origanally, I would either make the axle so the tire...

    Treadwrights and rain

I pulled the trigger on a set of guard dogs from Treadwright. I' pobabley going to get the center lugs siped when I head up north, as no one does that around San Jose. Thanks for all the help and info, and time will tell.... Mayne

    Treadwrights and rain

I've googled and read and re read. I've come to the conclusion that most people have been satisfied with Treadwrights, and they aren't my father's era re pops. I'm wondering if the Kedgegrip verity improves rain driving like a sipe, or just get the normal verity and have the center lugs siped...

Mine did come with clear covers, but that doesn't cut it for Ca. vehicle codes on off road lights. I have the clear covers underneath the KC softies. Mayne

    Can this be fixed?

I've got a Dynatrac 44 front. They are nice, and they aren't cheap. Customer service is good, and the ala cart menu is too tasty. Pity is I have zero miles on mine, and it's over 7 years old. Heck it's never seen gear oil. I guess you could say it was a buy for another project from another...
