Devil's Hole and the old railroad - 12 April 08

Angel used to cut my hair at that shop, then I went to Lee's, and then Tony's, and then to the one across from the Beaver Street Brewery. I went to school with his grand-daughter and knew his daughter, Marty Delgadio, fairly well.

$100 Handheld or a $250 vehicle mounted HAM?

Go figure, the local clubs here suggest a handheld, then a mobile. Dad reported the same from the HAM club in Flag. Trail communications, recreation at home, and emergency situations in CA/AZ.

$100 Handheld or a $250 vehicle mounted HAM?

Understood completely. I wonder though, are there any added benefits to having 2m AND 440 vs. just the 2m, aside from more frequencies. Is one better than the other as far as transmission and reception are concerned? Take a look at the rating for the 208H and the 7800..comparable radios. The...

$100 Handheld or a $250 vehicle mounted HAM?

Before I go out and spend my hard earned money, I'd like to know which would be a better option as a beginning HAM operator. The local HAM club members have, for the most part, suggested a less expensive, handheld transciever as my first unit, while the general consensus here is that the...

Devil's Hole and the old railroad - 12 April 08

Yeah, it has been several years now. I grew up with his various family members in Flagstaff. I loved that malt shop. We'd stop there after hunting trips and rides to PV.

Slightly off-topic, but it has to do with the area you are in: Have any of you been to Crazy Man Delgadio's Malt/Shake Shop in Seligman?

Does this belong to anyone here?

I've seen this rig in Manhattan Beach several times, and finally snapped a pic of it. I left my card with some ExPo info on it, just in case the owner didn't know about the website.

Are those Defender specific accessories, or ones that you have custom fitted? I'm in the process of making some low profile mounts for mine, so it should sit about 2" lower, directly on top of the rails.

I've been eyeing the ARBs for my WJ, rounded out with a nice M8000 or maybe even a 9.5...who knows. Is your's a 4.7L? What rack are you looking at? I'm quite please with my Defender Rack, but I got it for super cheap. For the same price, you can have a KOR or for a few $$$ more, a Hannibal.
