JK to receive new V6 in 2012 (at last)

srt4 computer uses a slightly different language than the jeep 2.4 motor. You can swap on the turbo, but you can't take full advantage of the boost. I think like 10psi is max unless you use a stand-along or piggy-back controller. The turbo manifold from the srt4 needs to be flipped over with a...

JK to receive new V6 in 2012 (at last)

The pentastar can make 305hp in factory form with 3.5L displacement. That isn't too bad at all. While I would love a diesel or a hemi, this might be a step in the right direction ( at least for the 2-door JK ). I think more important than the motor upgrade... What transmission are they going...

    Project: Doitall Dodge

Sorry guys, no pics yet. The truck is mostly painted. All I have left is the doors and cowl piece. I need to order replacement seals and felt for the doors. I also need to replace the front grill shell, inserts, etc. Overall the truck already looks about 100% better. Its FAR from perfect, but...

    Good deals on km2's?

Discount tire will price match any price you can find, and will also ship tires free on the direct program. They also have good road hazard which is REALLY nice with larger $300+ dollar tires.

In Response to the Congo Thread: A Technical Discussion

Oh boy.... There is no unbreakable vehicle. If you are tempted into building super tough vehicle that is suppose to stand up to anything you will most likely be overweight and underpowered. You cannot carry enough spare parts to fix everything. You cannot carry enough tool to fix everything...

    Ultimate Expedition Vehicle

This was from another thread kinda like this.... I've often contemplated building a vehicle from scratch, not starting with something stock, but starting with a blank sheet of paper. Has anyone else thought about doing something like this? Here was my starting list from another thread...

Looking for suggestions on front or back or both lockers

You can get 'thick' D44 gears to save the cost of a carrier. Also, Factory Rubicon D44 rear gears are the 'thick' version. If you can get a set of take outs you can use those on a factory high speed carrier. I would do 4.56 gears however. The 4.0s like a little more gearing than most people...

Looking for suggestions on front or back or both lockers

I'm going to go against the grain and say front locker :) Especially if the D44 rear has the trac-lock. If you can, do both ends. Some things to think about.... -A locked rear and open front CAN have a bad tendency to let your rear end slide sideways since the front axle is not doing its...

    J8 Expedition Project:

Its more a Chrysler problem than AEV problem last I heard. Chrysler is having a HARD time getting all the parts makers back on board after there financial restructuring :)

    1991 Cummins Suburban

That must have been some really bad stuff! The injector pump itself can also be pretty caked in areas with deposits. I have had good luck with my homebrew experiments and the stuff I get in Moab. The diaphragm style injector pump does make me a bit nervous with B100 however.

    1991 Cummins Suburban

Good to see all the updates. Your making me look bad! Unless the biodiesel was total crap, it most likely just got all the junk/deposits moving around again. That is what usually clogs filters and makes things leak. My truck actually stops leaking with biodiesel since it swells one of the...

HPA VW TDI Swap Kit Now Available for YJ

There was a little weirdness in toyota automatics, since the 4cyl 22r/re pattern automatic was a little rare, but I do seem to remember is was related to the AW4 and could share parts. AW4 control can be done with a full control aftermarket computer now also. Flexplate might be the biggest...

HPA VW TDI Swap Kit Now Available for YJ

You can use the acme adapter from VW to toyota, then use the toyota bellhousing and input from the early 5spd trucks on/in the ax5 transmission. They are basically the same thing. Or you could bolt in the toy transmission to the jeep with the toyota crawler box and a toy to D300 adapter. AA...

    What tire size?

My recommendation for most 'normal' people.... For a TJ. -2" lift ( about a million ways to do this, some much better than others ) -Nth degree tummy tucker ( no body lift ) -SYE conversion and CV rear shaft ( w/ adjustable upper control arms in rear ) -front swaybar disconnects ( I like the...

    The J8 thread....

I think financing on the J8 could be difficult. You are basically buying a kit car. I honestly don't know why Jeep will not pull their you know what out of their you know what and make these available to the public off the showroom floor. I know it would be difficult, but it has to be...

    J8 Expedition Project:

Its a shame that they didn't make the extra space in the chassis available with a small door from the inside, kinda like a cj2a underseat storage box. I would have a hard time cutting the floor out. Its a shame that they wasted so much storage space in the J8 under the rear floor. With the...
