    The Bigger Red Pig

There is a steering joint (U-joint style) from a Chrysler FWD car that will fit on the steering box end of the steering shaft with minimal mods. Then just replace the rag joint and call it good. Pick and Pull parts are always more fun.

2011 Jeeps get new diesels -- in Europe

Did you know that, at least in Italy, the Rubicon 3.8 and CRD versions are both the SAME COST! I just don't get it..... I do know that I am going to give the engineers at Easter Jeep Safari a big fat ear full next year..... I swear, I'm about to fly over there, ship one back, and install the...

    Genright JK gas tank

Or..... You could run the stock tank, the long-ranger tank, and the gen-right tank. That would give you about...... 2-door, 18.6 stock + 11 in the longranger + 20 in the Gen-right. 49.6 gallons TOTAL! 4-door, 22.5 stock + 18 in the longranger + 20 in the Gen-right. 60.5 gallons TOTAL...

2011 Jeeps get new diesels -- in Europe

To slightly continue my rant.... I ran the mileage numbers..... Accounting for the conversion to US gallons and the 13% increase in fuel economy posted by Jeep. The mileage would look something like this. 28.3 combined 33.7 highway 22.3 city This is in US gallons!

2011 Jeeps get new diesels -- in Europe

I just read through the press release. While I find it technically fascinating that jeep is making some strong headway, I find it infuriating that a historically great American brand is not releasing this technology in the USA! How is it that Europe is getting the best of the best and newest...

Looking for suggestions on front or back or both lockers

Isn't there more to the Rubicon TJ locker.....I remember some electric stuff also? I'm thinking that was for the locked-unlocked indicator.

    New 3.6L Pentastar User's Report?

The GC has been using the W5A580 for a bit now, even with the last v-6, I think in the 2005-2010 versions. The factory JK Diesel auto uses the 545RFE in the overseas edition. I think either one would be great for the JK. The 2011 GC with the Pentastar uses the W5A580. We know that the...

    New 3.6L Pentastar User's Report?

Top.... I would love to hear a review of the 2011 grand with the pentastar. It is about the closest thing to the wrangler in weight. On paper is looks like a good idea....at least for the 2-door JK Please oh please let them ditch the 4-spd auto! 5-speed auto please! I also hope they offer...

2011 Jeeps get new diesels -- in Europe

Oh don't get me started!!!! There is ZERO reason that the diesel engines are not offered in the USA at this time. Other than the fact that they get better mileage, make more power, and last longer. Who wants to sell a vehicle like that. The current Euro emissions are almost identical to the...

    The J8 thread....

If you look at the article in Autoweek and my quote, they got a best of 27.5 mpg with the speed in the 55-60 range. That isn't bad at all in my opinion. And I don't think the AEV J8 was THAT broken in at that point.... My Dodge is 7000lbs and gets 20mpg with 39s. The J8 will do better I think...

    Good deals on km2's?

Just learn to dismount and mount by hand :) Balance can be done with BBs or taken in and balanced once on the vehicle.

    The J8 thread....

Just keep the speed down, mileage will go up.

    The J8 thread....

Double hint! I don't think the ball in in AEV's court so much as Chrysler. Last I heard AEV is ready to go with about 50 orders.

Is the AEV J8 Diesel still an option?

The Hemi would be easier since the AEV uses existing vehicles for the swap. The diesel will be a 'dealer' only item.

Tires Narrow or Wide? What's your experience?

Other than being hard to find and hard to fit.....I love my big huge tires. 325/85r16 Michelins. They are about 38.5" tall and 13" wide. I think they are very practical for a 7000lb full size truck with one-ton running gear. They have a 5000lb load rating ( EACH! ) and allow me to run more...

Looking for suggestions on front or back or both lockers

I don't think you can install the Rubicon locker in a 'normal' TJ D44 housing. I think there is some extra castings/holes in the Rubicon housing. Could be miss-remembering though. I don't see any reason to swap out your existing D44 rear. The D30 front is almost as strong as the D44 Rubicon...

73-87 chevy fender cutting pictures wanted

Did someone say fender cutting......:Wow1: Honestly, if you can, buy 'glass fenders that are nice and opened up. The blazer/burb is harder in the rear for sure, but not impossible. I wouldn't be too worried about cutting the front, but the rear is much harder to get right on the 'burb. I do...
