Figured I would add a little information as I finally, after waiting for over 2 years, received the bush company 270 Max wall kit. They are not cheap so no need to talk pricing, but the quality is very high. Almost too high! What do I mean by that; the wall kit comes in a bag and it's HUGE...
It's on my 80 and not my 200 but I've been running the puma compressor for about 12 years. I rarely use it, but when I do it's mostly to air up after a trail. Those times I'm very glad I have it and it also gives me piece of mind if I need to air up a flat or something.
However, I will say...
I have the Coleman folding oven and the snow peak field oven. So far the field oven is neat but it is too hard to dial in and just too large to carry around. the coal bed has to be just right or you will burn the bottom of what you are baking while the top is still dough. The Coleman folding...
I have the GSI rocker and really like it. It's super comfortable, relatively light weight and packs up fairly small. The perfect camp chair is like a unicorn! The lighter you go, the less comfy and harder to set up. The bigger you go, the more comfortable they are but harder to pack away and...
I've had two different set-ups and both worked.... OK. The first, and I still have it, was the Helton hot water unit I picked up from Kurt and cruiser outfitters. This thing is great if you have a good water source. It uses the heat from your motor to heat up the water. All you need is a...
There is that one off camber step climb towards the middle/end of the trail (right before you crest the plateau where you see the bend in the river) that I'm always nervous about. I've done it twice with a James baroud up top. But now..... I don't think so.
I'm more and more interested in light weight RTT options. My Bush Company AX27 and the 270 XT Max awning are over 250 lbs and I can really feel it up there. So the light weight is nice. I wish that the Terrapod website had a little more information on the tent specs. I wasn't able to find it...
hmmm, not an expert here but I am pretty sure the truck bed campers can easily come out of the truck bed. I know the more fancy ones have lift struts in 4 corners and you can crank them up and drive out. I'll have to look closer at the alucab one and GFC ones.
this sounds kind of petty, but having that rear fabric for your foot to hit really makes a big difference in stability and confidence on the ladder. I used the steps in a very lackadaisical manner just to see if they would pop loose or if I felt like I was about to bust through them and fall; I...
OK these things showed up about an hour before I pulled out of the driveway for a weekend trip. Had to give them a try, so I tossed the box in the truck and head out.
Got to camp pretty late (side note here where I live camping is getting more and more difficult to actually find places that...
I don't store my ladder in the tent anymore. Even with the bag I didn't want to take a chance of tossing a wet and muddy ladder into my sleeping area.
I "think" one of the newer alucab ladders has the steps tilted for a more comfortable climb. At least I feel like I read or saw that on one...
I will let you know if this was a waste of money! Hopefully I'll get this before I leave.
Preparing for a trip this coming weekend and I was putting the bedding in my RTT with bare feet. That ladder is brutal! I've had three RTT's and all the ladders have been bad.
does anyone have experience with these? I saw a set on a YouTube channel and so when I searched for them they were out of stock. Randomly checked today and it says they are in stock, so I ordered a set. The ladders for RTT's are just so tuff on the feet.

This past weekend reminded me about one of the big pluses of a RTT. I was at a music festival in NC called Merle Fest. It rained for about 3 days out of 4. It rained heavy! Looking down at all the people getting out of a wet ground tent, ringing the rain water out of their sleeping bags and...
You should look at the bush company tent then, it's about as high quality as you are going to find!
I thought, from my research, that most of these truck bed campers drop in? You don't have to convert your truck to a flatbed. They also make different sizes for different truck platforms.
I...
I've really enjoyed my three RTT's over the years. they have evolved as I have better understood what I really want in a tent. Started with your traditional fold over, large tent. It had a lot of room but was big and a bear to set up and take down. Then I upgraded to the James Baroud which...
