Yeah, I think the idea of having some of these old 'overland-ish' vehicles, is better than actually trying to travel and live with them. They are cool. Just not too cool to own and use/live in.
Well, that weblink to Real Lift Suspension is interesting. And it does show parts for our 10th gen F150. That could give the lift, but the down side is that lift would still be sitting on weaker F150 spring rate.
Might be worth it to try to find if the Chevy heavier bars will work.
Currently...
Awhile back a fellow forum member mentioned that Chevy 2500 torsion bars can be installed on a 2000 F150. I didn't get which model 2500 bars should be used.
I'm guessing it would be 2001-2006 models, but can anyone confirm that?
I use the PETT too. Wife friendly so she's good to hang with me camping indefinately. I would add that the ergonomics of the PETT are well done. It's stable and resembles the familiar seating position. And it's easily portable, and perhaps easier to deal with than a blue water tank.
We've used the Cleanwaste PETT toilet for a couple years now. My family has no reservations at all about using it. It's comfortable enough, sturdy and the wag bags are easy to deal with. It also folds away nicely. As previously mentioned, by the wag bags in bulk...
Wow, that's pretty stupid... It doesn't have anything to do with being a bum. Sounds like the OP, like some others, aren't being led like sheep into the 'dept up to your eyeballs' lifestyle that most people are forfeiting their happiness for.
The success of it certainly depends on the location...
As some have mentioned, the RTT is a great option, but when the weather sets in, it's sucks bigtime. Putting away a wet tent, while it's raining or snowing is a pain. Climbing to the truck roof to do it is seriously frustrating. Doing it with your wife is total hell... Other than that it's...
This is an aftermarket Derale 13614 series 9000. I didn't have a factory unit.
If I was staying in Europe, I might not have installed it. But I'll be moving to NV soon. But if I drive it in winter, I'll have to keep that in mind.
Trans cooler install
thought I'd throw up a couple pics of the trans cooler install.
Went on a week long trip right after the install, driving in mid to high 90's. Looks like it's dropped the fluid temps 35 to 40 degrees. Seems pretty effective to me.
Great looking truck.
Your reasons for change to a gas eng are exactly the reason why I went with a gasser... I went with a smaller v8 because I'm all about driving s l o w with my overlander. But admittedly, I'm happy with the 15+ mpgs we're getting when conditions are right, even when fully...
Well, I tried to order a FantasticFan from Amazon, but after I paid, they decided to drop the order. I went with this instead, as a really easy answer, since I already had the light in place.
