Regrding you CV, if it was me, I'd leave it like that until it started making noise more often before I change it. I'm hard headed like that...
As for our set up, still love it. I continue to look over other people's set up (of all kinds) and am convinced we made the right decision for our...
SD, in regards to your bearing- If your bearing is going out, it will likely make a whizzing or humming sound which gets louder with increased speed. The clicking while turning you describe could be indicative of a CV joint on your IFS wearing out.
To answer your question about a F150 with a flatbed- I've installed a UTE flatbed and mounted a camper on it. I got a F150 specifically because I wanted the 4.6 engine. It was easy to slightly mod the suspension but I do have a lightweight camper...
Nice looking setup you've got. At first I thought "why would someone need a F350 to haul a TC?" Then read your weight at 2300lbs. Wow. My point of reference is my TC at 1000lbs. but I think yours is quite a bit bigger than mine. Glad you did your research to make an educated decision.
Good luck...
I'm very fortunate that my wife loves our truck/camper and is always traveling with= precious cargo= no stupid people tricks= always safe
It's one of those Rampage cans with drawers, makes a good tool box.
Got some stuff installed...
I got a bit of equipment installed on my back seat storage rack.
I know that's not how that bracket was meant to be used but it works better that way for me...
Trying to sleep under your tonneu would too much resemble a coffin for me. I'd rather try to sleep in the drivers seat if I had to.
Why not ditch the tonneu, leave the top, and build a rack on one side, inside the bed to hold all your goods using vertical space. Perhaps that would free up...
Wow, some quick progress. I've always thought this was a great idea for a mod to the big SUV's. I'm a fan of the hinged pop up, but either way, this is gonna be an interesting build. Good luck.
Every Mile- I applied a sticky-back foam strip @ on the aluminum to where it makes contact with the steel frame.
No modification was done to the truck to install this. It's completely mounted to the seat and seatbelt mount points.
Back seat storage for our F150
Looking for a little more storage space. Removed the back seat and built this. As you can see in the pics, I've only begun to install the aircraft seat rails to mount stuff. I'll add pics as the arrangement progresses. But at least the basic framework is done...
I'm sure you will get a lot of differing, and good, opinions on this. Here's how I worked out my set up: Subtract your actual truck wet weight (probably around 5k lbs) from the GVWR and that should be roughly your hauling weight.
Given your brakes, engine and frame are designed to handle the...
Back Seat Storage Rack
I took the back seats out of my truck and built a storage rack that's now (mostly) finished. I designed and fab'd all the bits, then employed a very helpful friend to do the welding for me. This generous fellow worked for beer and did a fine job.
It's made of thin wall...
