I'm thinking about doing something similar but this power system will act as my secondary battery for my rig. I like the idea of having something portable like the ArkPak and since it's out of my price range I'll just build one.
As I continue my research I do have one question for you guys...
Personally, I voted not to get the diesel and it came down to one simple thing. Gasoline is more readily available here in the states. However, if I where in any other part of the world I would get the diesel.
My major concern would be finding diesel gas during some kind of natural disaster. I...
I think your making a good decision and I would purchase either if the price was right. Other than the head light design on the LX it's basically the same vehicle. Just focus on a few factors like miles and color and then go from there. Personally I like the white ones but that's just me.
Here is some food for thought....
Before my FJ I had a modified 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon and before that a brand new 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I spent all of my 15 months in Iraq researching JKs and saving up my money just to build the one I wanted.
So when I redeployed I was...
My buddy has over 200,000 on his 07 FJ and he drives it pretty hard off road. Only issue with his was the rear diff breaking but compared to how he drove it thats nothing. He was planning on putting a diesel engine inside it so that made him drive it even more. Still to this day it keeps on...
Just want to say that I love your craftsmen ship and build quality...everything is so clean. Even the way you have your build thread laid out is clean. One day I hope to be on the same level as you. :victory:
Thanks! My top was painted by a shop and the rest is the black out kit that you can purchase. The kit is kind of pricy so a lot of people just paint all the silver parts to include the roof with plasti dip or even a rattle can bed liner. Check out some of the builds over on the fjcruiser forums...
Can't go wrong with an FJC. Although, I love mine I do wish it had more cargo area. But that just gives me a reason to get an off road trailer.
I hope the mod bug doesn't bite you because FJ's have a lot of add ons.
Here is a recent pic of mine during a camping trip:
Yeah I would also go with a tacoma double cab because you need the room and the pulling power. I'm actually considering a tacoma myself. Seems like every time I pack up my FJ and head out on a trip I always run out of room.
I would consider a 5th Gen 4runner or Tacoma. I know those are not in your list but that would be my pick if I could get another vehicle. In the past I have owned a 2008 4runner, 2009 JKU Rubicon, 2011 JKU, and currently have a 2013 FJ.
The FJ is by far my best vehicle ever but it is kind of...
Thanks for sharing! This is the kind of stuff that keeps me motivated. And while I want to get back on the west coast. Being in the military has it positives but always having to move is not one of those. Before coming out to the east I was stationed down in Sierra Vista and I spent a lot of...
I have a couple great trails in the MD, VA, PA and NJ area. I don't have any GPS tracks of them but I could draw something up in google for you. I think your idea is great and the idea is even better. Currently stationed on the east and I'm always planning wheel trips for when I get stationed...
I know your looking for feedback from guys with 4Runners but I have an FJ with a rtt. So far I've wheeled a couple times with the rtt on and I haven't noticed any differences. The only down side for me is that I wheel on the east coast and we have a lot of hanging trees. Most times I'm in the...
